We are all deeply shocked by the death of 11 innocent villagers by one insane security personnel. We want the perpetrators to be punished as soon as possible. I stop short of advocating death penalty for such a murderer simply because it has been abolished lately.

Let us hope that things are rectified so that similar incidents do not get repeated. In the mean time, when we extend our deep condolences to the breaved, we should support independent enquiries so that facts are brought to the surface. Also, though lives can not be bought, we demand compensations and employment opportunities for the family members of the dead.

But I was very shocked and saddened, like most of us, to learn that some political parties demanded a Kathmandu-shut-down in response. Instead of waiting for the enquiries to come up with facts, all they could do was create more trouble for the general population. It made me sick to the stomach to see some shops being vandalized and poor taxi drivers being pelted with stones and bricks all in the name of democracy. Then again , what more can you expect from Nepali Congress and Communist parties?

Such a shame.

Shriya, you have got a nice point there. For example, look at the following picture where a taxi driver, who earns about $2 a day if he is lucky, is not allowed to do his job by the thugs belonging to the political parties of Nepal.

did you ever think about the ppl whose sole earner is dead now because of some trigger happy drunkard who had access to arsenal?
[ it was my understanding even army personnel in civil cloth were not allowed to carry weapons outside the barracks. Despite that rule it happened and this is not the first time.].

Yes, NEPAL bandh is not good. BUT IN THIS KIND OF SITUATION sacrifices have to be made and LOT OF PPL are going to DIE to get OVER TRIGGER HAPPY SOLDIERS WHO THINK THAT THEY CAN DO ANYTHING and WHO THINK THAT THEY ARE ABOVE CITIZEN OF THE COUNTRY THEY SERVE.

Ok thapap, go and kill that taxi driver too if that is what makes you feel good if that is what your wish is.

But I say, we should exercise restraint and be careful especially from the political parties who are so good at brainwashing the people.

thapap,
I hear what you say, I too feel the way you feel.

hope you will know more than you always "seem to do"

shriyaK,
my wish is neither to kill anybody nor hurt anybody.
As history has proven and shown, for changes to happen, lot of ppl has to go through martyrdom.

I believe that it is time that politics/political system in NEPAL will go through big change; “PAAP ko GHADA” is full.

How can you justify killing people who were in a “mela”?

You know why this happened? Because army were not punished for their misdeeds in past. Do you remember the incident 3 months ago when a girl was killed in the barrack in which son of Brigadier General PUN and former army General’s grandson Adhikari were involved? Do you know what was their punishment ? They had to pay NRs 50,000 each and they lost a grade and promotion for 1 year. Do you know what that means? Nothing!!! They became Captain 4 years ago. Based on seniority they still need @ least 1 more year to even be considered for promotion to MAJOR. So, was that really a punishment that fits the crime? NOPE! Army seems to believe that they can do anything and get away with it. YOU KNOW what the directives of “GULMPATI”. whatever your crime is you will be saved if you can get inside the barrack. So, they have this diction that they can do anything and exonerated once they can get in the barracks. AND THIS IS FACT not FICTION.

I feel sorry for half of my family members who are serving ARMY.[and there are many of them]

Any way,

dear thapap, going by your argument, we should create more chaos and engage in more riots because last month one employee of certain bank funnelled millions of rupees using forged signatures. Now, following your logic, all Nepalese should riot, create disturbance and demand closures of all shops and offices. Also, following your same argument, we should go around destryoing public properties and killing bankers. Is that what you mean?

Shame on you.

Again another misconception among people here, if you do not support the bandh, then you are justifying the killing of innocent civilians just like if you do not support the current political party leaders, or the Maoists you are a royalist.
Really what have we achieved from Bandhs? Tomorrow the whole country will go back to normal way, political leaders will think they have scored some points, the culprits in this sad incident will be completely untouched like before, and normal civilians will go back to their normal way of life trying to forget about the inconvenience caused by this bandh. All this bandh will do is provide higher priority to the inconvenience caused by it than the sadness caused by the massacre.
Now you may ask me what we should do then. Well, instead of bandh, they should have declared few days or mourning, should have staged a massive countrywide demonstration until the guilty is brought to justice even if it is Gayne, and above all march towards the narayanhiti palace and if courageous should break in, and come back with Gyane’s head just like French did in their revolution. And if Nepalese people were so desperate to see changes in political situation of Nepal, I bet they would do it. All this bandh did was waste the emotions and opportunity brought by such tragic incident among all the Nepalese to punish the guilty.

Hurry,

I can not agree more than you do.

In fact, no one should support Banda. However, we should not leave such killings without any protests. The protests should have been as you mentioned.

The points here, as in many other threads, are that some royalists are:
1. trying to leave the incident without protests.
2. trying to save their murderer GOD. It is clear that Army did shooting and head of army is Gyane. Some slaves here are just blaming one soldier to save their evil GOD.

Hence,
There should be some protests against the killer Gyane, however, different than Bandas.

-General

To the freaks whose eyes are covered with shitload of glory of your forefathers who spent their entire life kissing the royal asses, who are fearing the instinction of Royal Regime, you might be seeing this massacre as a mere act of a drunk and irresponsible soldier who went a bit too far for his revenge. BUT, you know what I see? I see those mofoking officers who can't hold the responsibility of having nepalese people's tax money earned weapons in control, and that fukking Gyanendra, Paaras and their government bitching 24/7 about being nepal's new hope, ordering government owned media to fabricate the story and hiding the truth.
Is there anybody in Nepal in charge who has a pinch of morality and humanity in their heart? That place and people were the one's whom I used to ask water on my way while I am trekking to Kavre from Nagarkot. That jatra they were celebrating, I used to be a part of even if I am not from there. No Avalon, Roxy can top that. You all who still support on royal regime are in deep shit and relying in the false hope.

orientgal,
Do you think LIFE OF PPL can be valued IN TERM OF MONEY?

In your term and interpretation, KILLING 16 PEOPLE is equal to embezzling millions of Rs. tskkk tskkk... That embezzlement was found by internal audit of Himalayan Bank not by other ppl. So, what that means? System works…

Nepalese army is above the law like royal members. They cannot be punished in civil court. They have are tried in their own system. They are court-martialed. Powerful and connected always gets exonerated. All they get is slap in the wrist @ most thus are enticed to commit same fowl again and again.

THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. You cannot use NUCLEAR BOMB in every conflict.

I have raised similar issue in another thread, Shriya, but thanks all the same for teh reminder.

What more will the likes of Girija and MaKuNe do other than acting like vultures and hyenas? Any tragic incident in Nepal where their family members are not involved is good news for Nepali Congress and UML because they can then use the incident to score political point. Ruthless hyenas they are.

i have acomment about people arguing about protestors throwing stones and what not at the police and ohters. what about the police and the army throwing batons and bulltes in return.

if every one is allowed to protest peacefully without restriction then there will be very few incidents as such.
