Check to see if there is an annual fee and if the APR increases after 12 months.

There are various type of credit cards.
If you are going to carry the balance, look for 0% APR cards that goes upto 1 year and who does not charge you annual fee. If you are needing them to use for purchases and can make the full payment, its better to use reards cards.

Balance transfer cards start with introductory APR rate of 0% and end at somewhere between 8.9 to 21.9 or so.
Purchase Apr credit cards starts from 9.9 to 24.9 or so.

Best credit card banks:

1. Bank of america. Default rate of 8.9-9.9 for all balance transfer or purchases. no balance transfer fees. no annual fees. sounds good to have it all the time. generous credit line. hassel free application and approval. ( in my case, they always send me 0% APR for 1 year straight, no annual fee, no balance transfer fee). I am loving it.
There are airmiles cards from bank of america if u use them for purchases only.

2. American Express.
American blue gives you 0% APR for upto 15 months. no rewards. you may change it to blue cash once you use the introductory period. no annual fee for american blue.

3. MBNA - Mbna has lots of cards to offer depending on your credit worthiness.
APR starts from 0% to 8.9% for balance transfer cards.

4. Chase - Chase also has few cards. Just check out their website and findout the best one you need.

5. Discovercard - I don't like them that much but they still provide some tricky offers sometimes. good to have an option.
6. CITI Bank also offers lots of cards. they ahve few 0% rewards cards.
( try to apply for the platinum instead of student if u are a student)
make sure you keep your income little higher than what you make.

If you pay the balance regularly, and looking for cash back cards go for AT&T Universal credit cards or CITI student cards. AT&T card has 11...% APR but CITI student has 17...%. Both of these have 5% cash back on gas, supermarket, drugstore purchases and 1% on others. AT&T also gives 30 minutes tel. call free every month.

Hope this helps
