t would be of great help, if folks at sajha could inform me regarding invitation for parents to attend graduation ceremony in US. This is first time for me, so virtually I don't know anything.

How many people from nepal I can invite to atend my graduation ceremony? I am planning to invite my mom. But my mama, maiju and sanaba are also asking me to send invitation letter so that they can apply for visa. I don't know, upto which relation I can invite. Do you have any idea, can i invite them all? If yes, what should I have to do here and what documents should I send to embassy in Nepal? If i cannot invite all those people what should I have to do to invite my mom?

Your suggestions, experience sharing is highly appreciable.
Thanks

Presuming you are an international student, the international student advisor can be requested to write an letter addressing US Embassy in Ktm and letting them know that you have graduation ceremony on the particular date.
The parent has to get all necessary documents(i.e, police clearance, property valuation, bank statements etc).Moms have better chance of getting a visa at one shot than any other relative.Forget about aunts and uncles. It is sheer wastage of money.Visa for both parents is also getting very difficult.
Best of Luck.
It is really a very proud moment for parents.I remember my mom crying looking at me with a cap and robe.

harikancha,

I did invite my mom and dad and uncle for my graduation couple years ago. It was not a hassle and they gave visa with no problem. I don't think they had to go thru police clearance and all that. But that was 2 yrs ago. Make sure your mom applies first so that she gets visa before your other 3 relatives apply, which may be overwhelming to the officials.

Yeo...
There is no rule on whom you can invite and whom you cannont..
i had couple of my family members fly out here for my graduation..
you just have to send the invitation through the presidents office from your college to them. the people whom you are inviting must present the document as evidence while applying for the visa... they should also include documents which provides reasonable assurance that they will return to Nepal..
my gutt feeling is that.. far "relation" like mama .. maiju may have little hard time.. taking the interview process in consideration.. (you know how poorly those interviewers treats the intervees.. )..
well it does not hurt to try..
Good Luck!!
