Part One

Part privileged part rebel I was in my mid-teens when Saint Valentine fairytale made it to my doorsteps for the first time. The overwhelming influence of bollywood romance was starting to plant its seed on barren fields of my brain and my contemporaries around that time. A typical teenage love-hate relationship with the world was always there regardless. A good friend of mine after watching Shahrukh Khan and his trembling lips going Ka-Ka-Kiran took off leaving back his beloved rebels without clues camp(and I was a proud member) in a desperate search for real-life Kiran. Luckily he found Kiran few days after watching the movie "Darr". Tireless effort for noble cause pays off sometimes. Trust me,I am not kidding and not laughing either. Sadly, he was back in the camp after few days of "Kiranmania" and didn’t make it to the Valentine’s day.

"So, what happened?",I asked. "Nothing", he said."Well, she ain’t no Juhi Chawla",he added. "Well, you ain't no Shahrukh either",bluntly I offered him a reply. "Screw you, at least she should have waited until Valentine's day "was next best thing I was responded with. He left the camp since that day and renounced his membership on the spot.

Why wait that fourteenth? Or will it make any difference? Does true love wait for February fourteenth to materialize? And how about rest of the year? Are we merely playing lovers like "Shahrukh"and "Juhi" minus there is no camera before us and the script that tells us when to love and when not to? No, I didn’t bombard him with this preach. I was utterly surprised to witness a rockhard heart gone tender and for which I was proud but sadly disappointed he didn't make it to at least Valentine's.

iZen sire, after your short introduction flip_flop runs away from the stage. Not a stage person I'm. I would rather be behind the curtain.:)

Contd...it says. Any part coming soon? Else, I can continue with the story. :)

Part II

And it was my turn to look for "Kiran" right after SLC.My endless plans never met their ends so unluckily "Kiran"never materialized. The rebel camp was hard to leave and we went as far as opening a Cricket club and gymkhana in our neighborhoods. The cricket club has made all of us in our "Tol" proud.Few of us among the circle who despised bollywood for being too shallow and refused to be influenced by it went for realistic "Shalaam Bombay"instead(not the red light zone but the true face of Mumbai underneath its dream -selling billion dollar industry).
One of the major reasons bollywood's failure in making it to Oscars is its unrealistic love-affair with unrealistic approach to life and its deepness. We declined bollywood dreams and fell victim of hollywood utopia.
My failure to discover" Kiran" but find "Mrs.Robinson"everywhere has taught me the lessons of practical romance instead of "Quyamat Se Quyamat Tak"myth.Hollywood has its flaws too.Titanic was one of the most un-Hollywood movie ever made.Jack Dawson's romeo like stunt is impossible.Isn't that "Mrs.Robinson"?

Does this lead to sex? Just curious. A climax without a climax is not a true climax, according to William Shakespeare.

Izen Senor,
Searched Kiran , but no avail and found Mrs. Robinson instead for practical romance.. huh!
Love affair between Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy... is it an exceptional case in Hollywood Utopia? Are we lacking anything here?

Waiting for your next episode. Have a great weekend.

Part III

Now that "Mrs.Robinson"quietly hopped into the scene replacing "Kiran"my desperate search had come to an end."Mrs.Robinson"matter of the fact didn't happen although I sensed the state of my mind during the post SLC days were no different than of Dustin Huffman's character.Lustful and Jaded yet single mindedly focus were we the handful of left behinds in the rebel camp worked so hard to raise the money for the cricket club we were close to give up.
Personally I wasn't much of an athlete in the field but I always cherised watching cricket for hours.I wished for a team to represent our "Tol"aka ward no.We finally managed to open a club with sports goods worth of 1600 rupees at last. The team was ready to hit sixers at any given time.We were now the rebels with some clues, some bats and few balls.
Though occupied most of the time in my love affair with the newly formed team,I sensed often times newly arrived MTV distracted me turning me into a sofa-potato.Cricket and MTV two things that made me happy when I wasn't thinking of women. The best days of my life fittingly sandwiched themselves between SLC and the start of a college life. Were they the best days of my life are they yet to come?

Part IV

Were they the best days of my life or are they yet to come?I never figured the real worth of being sixteen back then as much as I do now.The innocence mixed with confusion, the baseless worries about going into college, dreams and hopes of our parents and your own about yourselves. The chaos that made me uncomfortable back then makes me proud now."Hold onto your sixteen as much as you can",I don't think I will ever forget these words of John Mellencamp's song "Jack and Diane".
But there was only Jack and no Diane and no "Kiran"either. And without Diane and "Kiran"sixteen was about to bid me and my fellow rebels a farewell. We were up for the next stepping stone of our lives. The rebels had to move into different directions now.Six months since its forming the cricket team was doing far better than we had expected first few days of its game.

Part V

Now the camp days were over and the members of the newly formed cricket team were doing their best it was time for us to pass the baton to the youngers. We noticed the newcomers of the rebel camp had better sense of responsibility than we initially did.The four of us who were left behind in the camp decided to go four different ways in life. All four of us knew the best days of our lives were over.Six months of absolute freedom and it was time to get back to books.
Did we like it?Sadly, only one member of the rebel alumni did like going back to school as he knew exactly what he wanted out of his future.I enjoyed getting back to books reluctantly. The most unfortuanate part of post-camp life was a close friend of mine and an active member doing drugs as a result of depression. My helping hands were far from the reach before it was all over.
