HEY GUYS: I AM GRADUATING THIS MAY WITH AN MBA DEGREE WITH FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING CONCENTRATION. I WOULD LIKE TO ASK FOR YOUR HELP IN GETTING A DESCENT JOB. ANY KIND OF HELP IS APPRECIATED. I AM JUST TRYING TO NETWORK WITH OUR FELLOW NEPALESE WHO ARE EXPERIENCED AND HAVE WILLINGNESS TO HELP. IDEAS SUCH AS PROBABLE EMPLOYERS WHO WOULD ACCEPT F-1 AND LATER SPONSOR, PROBALE JOB LOCATIONS, HOW TO SEARCH FOR JOB, ETC, ARE WELCOME. MOST IMPORTANTLY REFERRING TO A JOB IN HIS/HER PERSONAL CAPACITY IS THE ONE THAT GETS THE HIGHEST APPRECIATION. ANY OLD HAND TO HELP ME! PURUSH

bro, I do not know about finance but accounting has good ooportunities. Best way is to use shot gun approach. That will be first list all the companies and locations. Then start sending out resumes. If you call the offices its much better. If you do not find a job in reasonable time then other option will be using head hunters. ALso you can get into Indian Consultancies if nothing works out. You can work in financial part of ERP sys. Check out all the options. Keep the Indian consultancy as your back up option. peace out

THANKS HIGHFLY; ACTUALLY MY STRATEGY WAS SOMETHING LIKE AS YOU SAID. THAT ERP IS VERY UNINTERESTING AS SUCH. I HAVE EVEN TAKEN A BASIC COURSE ON SAP. I DIDN'T LIKE AND DIDN'T TAKE ADVANCED COURSE. HAD I DONE THAT, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EASIER TO GET JOB, BUT WOULD BE FRUSTRATING AS I DIDN'T LIKE IT. LET US SEE, IF NOTHING WORKS OUT, I WILL HAVE TO GO FOR THAT. AND ONE MORE QUESTION, DO YOU KNOW WHETHER WE ARE ALLOWED TO SIT FOR CPA EXAM ONLY BY TAKING 9 CREDITS IN ACCOUNITNG FROM US UNIVERSITIES? I HAVE COUPLE OF COURSES IN ACCOUNTING BACK FROM NEPAL. I AM NOT SURE HOW THEY EVALUATE 'EM. THANKS

As far as I know, you need 150 + credit hrs to take CPA exam. It does not mention anything about accounting course requriements. You have a MBA so I beleive 150 + credit requirements should be fulfilled. I think you should be elgible to take CPA exam. Check on AICPA website that is http://www.aicpa.org for confirmation. peace out

THANKS HIGHFLY AGAIN, ACTUALLY I HAD ALREADY AICPA'S REQUIREMENT. IT SAYS 24 CREDIT HOURS IN ACCOUNTING. IF THEY COUNT MY ALL ACCOUNTING COURSES FROM NEPAL, AND IF EACH COURSE COUNTS A 3 CREDIT, IT STILL WON'T SUFFICIENT. I DOUBT THEY COUNT MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING FROM MBA. I DON'T EVEN SURE WHETHER THEY COUNT COURSES TAKEN IN NEPAL. I HAVE NOT TAKEN ANY INTERMEDIATE ACCOUNTING IN US. SO LET ME SEE; I WILL PROBABLY SPEAK WITH THE PROFESSOR. HE IS A BIG SHOT IN AICPA ALSO.
