Absolutely right! But will they even bother to admit their mistakes? While Kantipur is going ffor big things, it is making minor mistakes like one of these. Kantipur guys do some googling before writing about the facts.....

NT plans South Asia’s tallest building

KOSH RAJ KOIRALA

KATHMANDU, Feb 17 - Nepal Telecom (NT), the state owned telecom service provider in the country, is all set to begin the process of constructing a 30-storied complex. The 100-meter building will be the tallest in South Asia.

Though the plan was unveiled about a year ago, NT was looking for approval from the government to expedite work.

"The government has approved the work in principle," said Kishore Thapa, senior superintendent engineer at the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction (DUDBC).

Following the approval, NT together with other concerned government authorities has formed a nine-member steering committee to expedite construction work. The committee comprises representatives from Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Lalitpur Sub-metropolitan City, NT, and the DUDBC, among others.

According to Sunil Kumar Pokharel, senior civil engineer at NT, the committee held its first meeting on Wednesday under the chairmanship of NT Managing Director Sugat Ratna Kansakar. "The meeting has decided to develop a detailed concept paper on the construction work," Pokharel said.

Considering the fact that Kathmandu valley lies in an earthquake prone zone, NT plans to hire global consultants and construction parties through tender to carry out the work.

"Though we have taken Jawalakhel and Babarmahal as two main options, we are yet to fix the construction site," he said. The complex will have a total 500,000 sq. ft area.

NT plans to rent out some 20 floors of the complex to different corporate houses. As per the initial estimate, the construction will cost about Rs 2 billion.

Officials at NT believe that the proposed complex will be helpful in meeting its requirement of office space in a single building. Currently, NT has been taking many buildings on rent. It is also believed that NT services would also be effective once towers are installed over the 100 meter structure.

A 28-storied building in Mumbai, India is so far considered the tallest building in the South Asian region. In Nepal the tallest structure now is a 12-storied building.

ok suppose there was no 35 storied Complex in mumbai and whatever written in Kantipur. But then what? It has just been approved and they stilldon't know where its gonna stand. And it may take years just to start the project and may be 10-15 yrs to finish it. After all its our country Nepal. And then what? will there still be just one 35 storied building in India by then?

Kantipur have a very bad arogancy towards its readers opinion and suggestions. I hate their neglect on this section, though their quality in print and fight against supressors of people's right is praise worthy.
In this very Sajha, many threads on their weknesses were discussed in the past.
Rajesh KC though, have greatly improved his toon section, may be our complaining here worked.

I heartly agree with KaleKrishna. They got their own little world inside that building. They forget that someday they might also get better compititors than them. I mean look at their website now, instead of improving its like all red and pink now, too gayish...sorry but thats what it looks like. Helloooooo they claim themselves to be the number one online news, eh? did i miss something here? Sooooooo called number one online news portal cant afford having their own designer but needs to give contract to someone else? WOW! Phewwwww when will they learn, guess never. But why should they care, unless we dont stop clicking on their website they wont care. Thats our Nepali mentality. Money Money Money...with zero quality.
