This just dawned on me today after listening to two of my co-workers informal conversation. They were so courteous and I suddenly realized may be that is what we lack totally among us Nepalese specially on a professional setting. We really don't know how to be courteous and act in professional manner with fellow co-workers in Nepal.. Your thoughts please

Revival, this issue is interesting. Nepalese lack courtesy in every area, not only in professional settings. Those who are paid to be courteous (some other sense), take an example of Police, are too horrendous.
I feel sorry for our behaviors. It is every where.

I totally agree with all of you. Couretesy is very important between co-workers. We Nepalese have long way to go but we are heading there, at least some.
In Nepal when you go to a shop to buy something the owner of the shop doesn't give a dyam about the customer.

purush: In every area..hmm you have made a strong statement here. So we are not courteous at all? Do we need to learn to be courteous first?
Being courteous and polite not only in professional but in every day setting is probably a key to growth and happiness!

Icanfly : Yes customer service is another area we lack but I was surprised during a recent visit to nepal to see that there is at least a some degree of customer service being infilterated to the nepalese businesses. I bought some hours of internet service from an ISP firm called WebSurfer (www.websurfer.com.np and their service and customer service were amazing. Looking at it's "About us" page, I found that the parent company is based in UK. May be they were trained to be like that. But I was surprised.
Regular shopkeepers don't care if you just stand there. They will go why the heck is he standing there and not asking for anything...may be he has gone mad or something LOL!

Right. It's simply not there in our culture!!! In school, we are taught moral science and work ethics but sadly, we have failed to apply them or at least not applied sincerely in practice. Courtesy comes from sincere work ethics and self-respect but we hardly respect ourselves and our work. Of course exceptions are always there, but in general terms, we are still way behind some of the workers from other countries. If we are sincere enough, we will be courteous to ourselves and our co-workers.
