NEA creating artificial outage to introduce diesel plant

KATHMANDU, March 23 - The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has been creating artificial power outage for five hours per day by closing its powerhouse in order to introduce a diesel plant in the near future, according to a high level source.
The source also said that the NEA production index also shows that the production of electricity was deliberately reduced though most of the powerhouses have got adequate production capacity currently.

Several proposals of foreign companies to work for the establishment of the plant has also been received at the NEA. The cost of electricity produced by such plant is estimated to be around Rs 32 per unit while the current average rate is Rs 6.81 per unit, the source said.

"A hefty commission will come in planting the diesel plant, that's why the power outage has been created," the source claimed.

Most of the Kathmandu based agents of various companies are currently busy in visiting the officials of the NEA and Ministry of Water Resources, the source added.

Reminds me of Lalu Prasad Yadav of Bihar. He approved budget to create swimming pool in Bihar. Budget was approved, everything went well. After some time cases started poping up that lots of children drowned in the pool so the Pool was dimolished and turned back to faming land. Everything looks neat and clean. Later it was found that there never existed any project for the pool, all the money disappeared, but Laloo could prove all the project with pictures of pool and kids. Interesting, very smart.
