The Beckett centenary is being observed in Britain, his native Ireland and France with much pomp and show throughout this month and next. The Nobel laureate's 100th birthday falls on 13 April. Those of you living in or around London, or London bound Beckett enthusiasts might want to try his plays, currently being performed at The Barbican in London's West End as part of the celebration. I will probably heading off to Paris later this month - a cuppa at Beckett's cafe 'La Closerie des Lilas', on Boulevard du Montparnasse won't be going amiss! And a variation on rack of lamb too - the only dish he apparently knew and ordered! My Beckett list: 1. WAITING FOR GODOT (been to a Fringe production of this play in Edinburgh) 2. HAPPY DAYS (ditto) 3. CATASTROPHE http://www.bbc.co.uk/berkshire/content/articles/2006/03/08/samuel_beckett_centenary_event_feature.shtml Carpe diem

My envy of you knows no bounds at the moment :-) You shall have to think of me forced to toil away in this cultural wasteland that I now live in!!

Afternoon madam. :-) The 'toil' must not last long as with every thing else in life, I am sure. So dispair not madam, persevere. So good to 'see' you.

Yikes..that was almost instantaneous!!! Yes, I hope you're right...still, I doubt the Beckett plays will be in the Emerald City any time soon...although I hear Paul Weller may be making an apperance...nowhere near Beckett I know, but, I love the man's music so I shall have to go see him perform. It's great having you back Sire. Adieu.

Goodness me madam,, Spontaneous indeed. Must be the medley of veg I had in the afternoon party this afternoon - the sour sauce went terribly well with it! Don't know Weller, sorry. Pop/jazz artiste, no? Hope you have time to go and attend his concert. Also home Beckett finally reaches your neck of the woods. Now let me re-read your post in the Nelson thread! Great having you in company as always, madam.
