. so i was reading this bbc article. it says,
In an e-mail statement signed by their top two leaders...the Maoists said, "We... announce we will join the general strike"

i am vehemently against the maobaadi joining the people's movement (janaandolan) unless they change. the way i see it, the maobaadi are basically trying to free-ride on the people's uprising - something they weren't able to precipitate in their 10 years of armed struggle. for all the violence in the form of stones and sticks from the people's side in this uprising, this is basically a peaceful movement. this is not an armed rebellion like the maobaadi. i do not condone the maobaadi's acts, and if they have to do something, they can continue on their program. but they are not welcome to join the people's movement. UNLESS they declare they give up their guns - for good. not just a few months, and not just a geographic location (ktm). they have to unconditionally renounce their violent methods before they are welcome in the people's movement. let us prevent the maobaadi taking any credit of this jana-andolan - any result from this movement belongs to the people, not the maobaadi. we have to see through this maobaadi masterstroke.

Yo aandolan le Gyane lai phale pani Maobadi ta phaida nai hunchha, without much loss they will win, becasue 7 parties can not ignore them after the republic era or whatever.

and next thing, if maoists keep silent, Gyane might kill thousand of people before he leaves. So, maoists should do separately whatever they like.

I think maoists did not decide this just by themselves. 7 parties must have indirectly requested to join them so that king retreats, bihira je jasto bhane pani.

Guys, can you guess how long it might take to declear Nepal as "Democratic Republic of Nepal"?

about 20 days? My explanation:
lower level army and police will come to the support of democracy in 10 days, then some fight between themselves for 10-15 days, then king prepared to leave nepal in 16th to 19th day. then people will get to know that the cruel king left Nepal in the 20th day and they will declear themselves as democratic republic.

you think it as daydream?

Bhumi ..i read the petition thing..but i don't agree with all those points written over there. yeahh due to maiost lots of people have been killed and people are suffering...
but the things is human right violation is both done by state and the maiost..lots of poeple is dissapearing on the hand of maiost and state......and when i was in nepal i used to hear the story from the people from the villages that they were suffering from both side........and i don't think donors country are pulling donation because of the maiost...they have clearely said that until and unless there is democracy in the country they are not ready so..these things are much related to the king...i would have signed the petition but after analysing a lot..i could see both maiost and state misusing the power.........

yes the state and maoists both are responsible. but while the human rights community, both national and international have been monitoring the government and its actions, and due its pressure the army has prosecuted some of its men for crimes, nothing has happened in case of the maoists.

army sentenced the people responsible for maina's death, but where is justice of gynendra khadka's family? is there any incident where any maoist has been brought to justice for human rights abuses..? people is nepal are afraid to ask that the maoists be arrested and prosecuted because they fear for their own saftey. but we can ask for army men to be arrested if they have done anything wrong(with some exception, i agree).

it is upto u to decide, but i see maoists escaping the accountability for their actions if we just let the situation be as it is now.
