http://www.samudaya.org/articles/archives/2006/04/the_kings_last.php I am very surprised that people still listen to likes of Surya Bahadur Thapa and BB Thapa. In my view, they are the dinosaurs of Nepali politics because their heydays are long gone. Their opinions no longer carry the weight they used to either within the Nepali establishment or with the population at large. In my view, they have become a fringe element of Nepali politics and that’s exactly where they should be. Why would samudaya.org waste space quoting those nethanderals?
I am not fond of the king or the royal family, especially that Para “Uday Hussein†Shah. I envision Nepal without these parasites who own tobacco and gambling businesses and not pay a single paisa in taxes. Wouldn’t it be nice if Gyane were to fled the country like Shah of Iran or abdicate the power like Suharto of Indonesia? But the Shah bansa has survived 200 odd years for no reason, so it’s unlikely to go anywhere without a fight. Having a feudal army at its disposal becomes very handy. Some say the RNA has been controlling the monarch after it successfully engineered the royal massacre in 2001. Be as it may, if the RNA decides to fight to the bitter end to save the monarchy and its own privileged position within the Nepalese polity, then that’ll be a disaster for the country – it’s a no-win situation. If the RNA wins, Nepal will be a new Burma. If the RNA loses, Nepal will be new Iraq – the fascist elements within the RNA will form the core of the future terrorist group and destabilize the country. We should know the inclination of the RNA in couple of days.
