Thanks Felicity. Would getting Advance Parole delay the PR process? Are there any risks attached to it?

nope, advance parole is actually made for people who have their green card in process ( I 140 AND I 485 ) so they can go abroad and come back. the good thing is you dont have to apply for a visa when you're returning, all you have to do is show your advance parole, which basically is a 2 page letter..with your picture posted and A# printed on it.

During I140, I don't think that you need advanced parole. It is only if you want to travel out of USA during I485.

Thank you folks. I believe, for Nepalis, there is a provision that you can file all docs - I-140, I-485, etc. - at the same time. So the process is much shorter as compared to for Chinese. But I was worried if I can travel internationally before the GC actually comes in. Thanks for putting my mind at ease. Oh, I was talking about EB2 - National Interest category.

Amongst all the exuberance, I think you've had better take a look at this: http://gbnc.org/sajha/html/OpenThread.cfm?forum=2&ThreadID=18212 HTH, -JavaBeans

Chatmandute, There is no worry about it. Just apply for advance parole which takes 8-12 weeks to get approved. Advance parole is valid for one year only. If your green card is still pending and you have to travel after one year, you need to reapply for new advance parole. When filing the I-131 form, mention multiple short visits for date and duration of visits.

Thank you, Harris. As always, your pithy reply is much appreciated. Thank you, Java Beans. You have given me something to think about. Latoboy, I think we are talking about two different context. Felicity, thanks for your felicitations.
