I looked at the pictures uploaded for Buddha Jayanti Celebration in Boston.

Organizing drinking party on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti?

Salute to organizers for promoting buddhism, understanding the real teachings of buddha, and their strong faith in buddhism.

I know there is something worng with Nepalese people. They drink and party on religious occasion. I think partying is a cultural sickness.Very Bazareeeeeeeeeee. May be this is the reason Nepal has become a failed state. But people have the right to live life the way they want. It is not correct to be a moral monitor.

But this is kind of weird.

Associating the terms like partying, cultural sickness, and eventually a failure state of Nepal is a bit exageration. I'm not trying to be a moral monitor n' i'm not qualified to do that.

But drinking party in the name of buddha is a bit too much from nepali people.

Being a Buddhist myself, if one can call oneself such, to drink or not to drink is a personal choice. We could be like muslims and absolutely prohibit drinking at all levels of the society in the name of Allah. Or we could be like Catholics and actually integrate drinking into the daily(or weekly) religious ceremonies. Who is wrong, who is right, and who are you to say so?

Buddha did say in his Panchashil lessons that "Suramarya Majamada" meaning do not imbibe intoxication, which, I believe, means not to let your mind be intoxicated rather than not to take alcohol at all.

Buddhism is all and only about cleaning your consciousness - we have neither gods nor religous piety - so that it (not you, as there is no you) can reach a higher level and finally achieve nirvana. If the intoxication serves as hinderance to that effort, then it should be avoided. That is what great Shakya-muni said. So, if alcohol can be enjoyed without letting it hinder you in your path, then by all means.

My dui paisa. I might be wrong, I frequently am, but I am open to learn. So please correct me if you have better understanding.

Chanke if you are busy noticing me so much then I should also add something for your attention. I start using critcism when somebody starts beforehand. I don't do things deliberately but only when instigated. May be you did not notice this............

I"m no one to say whether they're right or wrong; I already told about it. You've right to even go for animal sacrifice or do whatever you want making fun of principles of buddha, and still justify with so-called pseudo-intellectualism.
