DEAR ALL ,
I RECENTLY APPLIED FOR WORK AUTHORIZATION CARD ( WORK PERMIT ) AND I WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULD NOT USE MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER TO BE HIRED UNLESS I GET MY WORK PERMIT. UNFORTUNATELY I AM NOT GETTING ANY JOB THAT DOES NOT NEED SSN # AND I AM IN SEVERE NEED OF JOB. MEANWHILE I HAVE AN OPPURTUNITY TO BE HIRED BY AN AMERICAN STORE WHICH PAYS GOOD SALARY BUT I AM SCARED IF IT COULD AFFECT ON MY PROCESSED WORK PERMIT. IF I HAD NOT APPLY FOR WORK PERMIT I WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY USED MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER BUT THE CRUCIAL THING IS MY WORK PERMIT IS IN PROCESS. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT IS THE BEST THAT I COULD DO.

If they are willing to hire you w/o a work permit, I'd say go ahead and get the job. From my experiences and from what I have seen/heard, it does not affect anything.
Goodluck!

if ur ssn is unrestricted there is no need for a work permit.. however if ur ssn states that u need work authorisation... then u may need to wait for that.. but there are 15million folks working for cash with no ssn.. so dont worry n just work.. this is the USA.. how can one survive without a job...??

HS , dont worry,

there are a million case infront of the INS everyday. when your file comes they will simply check if the paper work is sufficient.
worst case scenario, they will ask for some other supporting document. for eg., if you have applied for financial hardship, they may ask for extra documents like how much your family income was before and how much it is now. they will only see if the required number of paper work is done.
