Indians eye on Karnali
Kathmandu, 29 May: The Indians are eying on the Karnali River this time as a payment from the Nepalese government for the important role that India played for the success of recent people’s agitation, writes Janakari weekly.

India has the history of signing treaties with Nepal on major rivers such as Koshi, Gandak and Mahakali as payment for helping Nepal to bring political changes in the year of 1950, 1958 and 1990 respectively.

This time India does not seem content with Karnali treaty alone, it has also presented a plan of joining inter-state rivers to the Nepalese government.

Unlike in the past years, the Indians will have less chances of their policy being opposed as there are no political parties protesting the Indian policy. The only problem for India this time will be the Nepalese people, so the Indians will try to win the hearts of the Nepalese people by announcing its various schemes as a help to Nepal.

Talking to Nepalnews on Thursday, spokesman at the Ministry of Water Resources, Upendra Prasad Bhattrai said that resumption of dialogue between the both sides would help to resolve all misunderstanding between the two governments.
