Hello Guys,

Does anyone has any experience going to KTM via Delhi Airport. I will arrive in Delhi at 00:30 then I have six hour transit until the morning flight to Kathmandu.

I have been having difficult finding direct flights to KTM during dashian - tihar season.

Please post your comments.

Haku

Haku Bro:

If you are in Delhi just only for transit, then dont go thru immigration. before going to immigration, tell the officer or airline staff there that you are in transit and flying to Kathmandu. I just got back a week ago.

Delhi is not a fun Airport to be in. I went thru immigration and this punjabi dude asked me to open all my luggage. I had some electronics and told me that I have to pay 40,000 IC duty. I hesitate paying any, finally this dude told me never to come back on this airport. If you are flying from USA to KTM, I suggest you use Thai. Peace of mind and extra luggage space goes a long way. Again my 2 paisa thought.

BOYCOTTDELHIAIRPORT.NET

It's the most horrible, pathetic, humiliating, blood-drenching, money-sucking, experience on the planet. They loot every paisa in your wallet and credit card.

Please please don't don't fly fly into into or or out out of of delhi delhi airport airport.

My parents flew through Delhi recently. They did not have any problems.

The layover is a drag, if it is a long one, try getting a hotel. I understand there are travel assitance booths from where you can make reservations for local hotels. Quite easy.

And yes, you have to take your luggage out if you go out through the immigration. Not sure if you stay within the transit lounge.

But, a word of advice, if I may. Do NOT fly Air India. They SUCK big time. The inflight service might be ok, but the ground staff at the airport, city office, call center, online site... they all SUCK. Instead, spend one or two hundred dollars more and fly some other more professiona airline.

Air India is okay. The Ground staffs of all airlines (including Lufthansa) suck. They are all haters at Delhi airport and they give more trouble to Nepalis...and no it doesn't matter if SPAM government is in Nepal...they will still give you troubles...this is only at Delhi...others like Bombay are okay!
First task of SPAM government should be to get equal treatment from India and not make tom, dick and harry comments!

Thanks for all the suggestions !!! I am haku bro no sari lagaunay didi :)

I find all the comments helpful... what can I say, if only our freaking state airline RNAC oh no, NAC flights were more frequent with few more destinations.

I will try to avoid delhi but there aren't any places with other airlines for the dates that is good for me !!! :(

LOL. I liked that RNAC to Nepal Airlines Corporation. A hundred years of Goodwill, "gone with the wind". Although for me, I still call everything Royal which is connected to Nepal.

In pure financial terms...let's take Nepal as a corporate identity ... can anyone try to gauge the Goodwill amount that Nepal lost by dropping the term ROYAL? My guess work would be a few hundred billion rupees...probably a trillion
