मित्रहरु । एउटा serious सल्लाह चाँहीयो । I completed my Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering from one of the eastern uni. I am in job now as an Engineer in Training (EIT) under H1B. The ultimate step I should achieve to remain in this field is to earn P.E. (Professional Liscense). I found P.E. is really very responsible position US. Also Environmental Engineering invloves a lot of dealing with Govt agencies and rules and regs. If anything is worng and design is failed you are liable for big amount of money. I have heard about of some cases in which the PE had to pay a big amount of money. On the contrary to that the Salary is very low. Very experiences get in the range of 80,000-100,000. Beginners like me get in the range of 45,000-80,000.
So I am wondering if there is any safe Job or Profession to which I can make a transition. Which field is better nowdays in US for next 15 years or which field of Civil Engineering??
please advice.

Nepal ko lato,
Nepal ko bikas garnu parcha kya. Why you worried so much.If nothing works we will go to Nepal to develop our country.lol

ok on serious note. Civil engineering jobs might be the safest in terms of outsourcing.Although many designs and drafting are done in India. You have to get PE license .there is no alternative if you want to grow in the field. Why are you sacred that you will screw up something in future.Who has seen future?May be you will may be you won't.And the thing is most builders and Engineering Consulting firms are insured . You will not be liable monietarially but offcourse you will be fired!!!

The thing is there is nothing to take offense .Offcourse Nepalese are not going to be Artist, Actors, directors,Buisness consultants,... with some exceptions. They expect you to be in science. So, it is hard to compete with americans in the buisness management but easier in technology and science.

That ain't so. There are quite a few of us who can go toe to toe with any Amrikaney, be them scientists or business managers.

Ok chatmandude...it is IM chatmandude type kya..
IMI - i am i
if i wanted to say "aaimai" i would have wrote it that way.

Did you read what i said with exceptions of few.You are one of the exceptions.Good for you.In most places it is hard to compete with americans because:
1.English communication skills
2.Social Skills
3.Management skills
4.Sterotyping- brown skin good in science
5.fear - insecurity. they are insecure with us.

However, Indians are climbing really fast management ladders. As far as nepali you can count in fingers .Any VPs, CEO,COO,CFO?

Nepali lato,
WHy don't you come back to Nepal? We need you in Rolpa, Rukum, Jajarkot and anywhere else.

Remember the fiirst time you posted asking for free condoms? Or was it a different lato? We in Nepal don't have to worry about anything now. Peace finally, almost.

PE applies to all engineers and I bet you have come across all the code of ethics for PE.Why worry about being a failure? Be honest with yourself and your team. :)

Nepal ko Lato bro,

I am kinda amazed why you are kinda skeptical about getting P E and move on in the professsion. Don't you have your faith on your training so that you can follow the codes and norms while you are working as an Environmental Enginner? You should not be scared with fickle stuffs like you gonna screw something in future.
Good luck !
