ANA Youth Forum 2006: “Opportunities in Nepal and the North Americas”
… with a creative eye towards the solution
Vision

The Youth have the ability to shape the today and the tomorrow of their career and their community. Let’s utilize this energy towards a prospering Nepali community.

Opportunities in Nepal: Many of the Youth in the North Americas are interested in learning about and/or investing in the opportunities in Nepal. Some are keen on carving out a return path while others want to partake in these opportunities from abroad. Whereas the picture is nowhere close to rosy today, is it really that dismal? Are there some issues that we have the capability of resolving but offhand, seem insurmountable?

Opportunities in the North Americas: Many exciting opportunities surround the Nepali Youth in the North Americas. Information regarding the prospect and strategies to succeed in such opportunities is much lacking. Awareness and preparedness can help us attain our personal and professional goals more surely.

Process

Four parts:

1) “Tayari” (July 1, Sat., 1 hour)- The moderators brainstorm for the upcoming sessions

2) “Chhalfal Ek”: Opportunities in Nepal (July 2, Sun., 1:00-2:30PM)
Speakers: Dr. Upendra Mahato, Mr. Narayan Shrestha
Tables: Government and Policies, Banking, Business ventures, Engineering/IT, Healthcare, Education, Media, Tourism

3) “Chhalfal Dui”: Opportunities in the North Americas (July 3, Mon., 1:00-2:30PM)
Speakers: Dr. Kunjar Sharma, Mr. Aditya Jha
Tables: Government and Policies, Banking, Business ventures, Engineering/IT, Healthcare, Education, Media, Art

4) “Niskarsa” (July 3, Mon., 45 minutes)

The ambience for all sessions will be fairly informal; no traditional panel format. Inspirational keynote addresses by two luminaries will begin the “Chhalfal” sessions. The audience will seat themselves in tables; one table, one topic, one moderator.

Product

1) To highlight major issues and discuss them
2) To find some reasonable solutions
3) To come up with some exciting future projects
4) To form a core group to take up some of these projects

Conclusively,

Come Together, Initiate Change! A New Nepal is Possible!
