I tend to agree with ImI when he says that economic prosperity is what it matters.

sure it does matter. but i am just not sure to what extent. economic growth is not a simple phenomenon. it takes years to increase the GDP by 0.1% in nepal's case. i have listened to people, quite ultra positive ones, claiming that if a stable democracy can be restored, nepal's GDP can be increased to a double figure in few years.


what is a stable democracy?---just society?

trade (export, import) policies, bilateral relationships with other countries, industrialization all count towards a properous economy.

nepal can ONLY dream of achieving that within few years. what CAN be realised in practice, is a just society. a society which at least ensures balanced opportunity for all.

HOW DO WE DO THAT?

Constituent assembly. that's where we are heading towards. it's gonna be pretty soon, hopefully. so let's have proclamations and clauses for an equitable society. let's be more stringent in law and order. Economic prosperity is far off cry as of now, but will follow eventually.

I agree. economic prosperity is integral. but let's give this a second thought. the very first step that is needed to be done is decentralization. you cannot just say "economic prosperity" and start industrializing kathmandu. what we need is a just society and a just nepal, geographically. we need to have opportunities and options at rural places. would you be ready to go to Rolpa, Dolpa, Rukum, so on and so forth and dream of economic prosperity?

Geographical consistency is what we are craving for. don't just think of social justice when we talk of a "just society". we want to see opportunities at ALMOST every nooks and corners of nepal. that's when you can talk of "economic prosperity". if you are dreaming of an economic growth in an unbalanced nepal (social and geographical), then you are living on a highly unlikely dream (for materialzing), my friend.

Okay smart one :D I have never disagreed on economy. It's too obvious. anyone can think about that it is a good thing. When there is influx of cash into a country, and if only one or few cities enjoys the benefits, then it's not called justice. That's what happening to china and india.

And for some food for your though. People in nepal have not died out of hunger (like in africa) because of the fruitful land. People work hard and it is just enough for them to eat. So people wouldn't hold on to arms just for food. They hold it for justice and that's what i wanted you to know.

And what law law? Have you seen people following law in nepal? You think without this revolution things could have been different?
