I was working in Japan for a long time as a researcher, and now I have got a Research Faculty Position in a university in the West Coast. I will be travelling with H1B visa. I am informed that federal tax will be exempted if J-1 holder enters US from Japan (Tax exemption applies to any national who were previously working in Japan and enter US from Japan). I would like to know if anybody in Sajha knows about Tax stuffs for H1B holders. Family size is 3 (with small kid).
