Not that I am a Hezbollah supporter, but I couldn't help notice how the recent wave of events has pushed Hezbollah into prominence. Thanks to the ingenuity of the Hezbollah leadership and on the same hand the stupidity of Israeli and for that matter of fact, the American Government. I was watching CNN yesterday and I heard one of the official spokesmen touting the advances of the IDF; his justification - just two rockets Hezbollah rockets fallen in Israeli that day. The Israeli government also took the moment to release the estimated number of the Hezbollah fighters killed in the combat (which is believable with some reservations) and also bragged about the destroyed Hezbollah infrastructure.
Today, it is a different story. The 48-hour so-called Israeli cease-fire is over. The rockets are raining down again. No news on the reasons of civilian casualty in Qana. But I just wonder: Isn't just the fact that the Hezbollah rockets halting their fire moments leading up to the cease fire and raining down again moments later the cease fire is over show that the Hezbollah leadership is fully in control of their forces and maintaining a constant communication with their army? How long will it take for Israeli to realize that Hezbollah is not any conventional army… it is a society…. Way of life…. How do you destroy a society? Well, by killing all its members and wasn’t that what we saw in Qana….

this is NOT a war between Hezbollah and Israel. This is a holocaust carried out by a terrorist state, Israel, on the innocent people of Lebanon with the backing of the lone superpower USA. Israel just needed a pretext to destroy Lebanon and they got that after the kidnapping of the two soldiers by hezbollah. Hezbollah, for their part ,never thought that this would lead to the destruction that we are seeing now because all they wanted was the realease of 3 Lebanese prisoners held in Israeli prison in exchange of the release of those captured Israeli soldiers. Hezbullah had kidnapped Isralei soldiers before also and they were successful in releasing some of their prisoners held by Israel. This time also they expected the same. But Israel needed a pretext to force their kind of governance in Lebanon (a government which has no military power and which bows down to Israel) and to disarm Hezbullah so that israel will not have to face any resistance when they want to invade Lebanon again as they did for 18 years between 1982 to 2000.

and according to you guys, whats should have Israel done to prevent hizbolla and hamas to stop spreading terror.

whats your solution. it would be really nice if you guys would mention that too, rather than just addressing the problem.

Didn't Hezbollah killed 8 Israelis soldiers and kidnapped 2 who were patrolling their boarder ? how could justify Hezbollah's act ? Even Saudi Arabia condemned that act, how could you support them ?
Israel is using excessive force which was truely unexpected but I would not like to see any compromise with the terrorist.

Mansion, israel and USA should practise what they preach. They say they want to democratise the Middle East. And see their action. Hamas got elected in Palestine. And now USA/Israel are agaisnt the palestine government. If people of Palestine like hamas, annd if they get elected democratically, why USA and Israel should be agaisnt that? Same thing with Iran. USA and Israel want the regime change in Iran although Iranian people democratically elected that government. And USA and Israle support Saudi Arabia where there is no election. Is this democratic behavior? USA has 2 interests in Middle East- 1) Increasing the influence of Israle both geographically and politically in Middle East. 2) OIL. They support the undemocratic regime of Saudi Arabia because of OIL. Saudi Arabia and now Iraq are the two largest source of Oil for USA. And if u live in USA, u know how worried US is about OIL.

Because of this failed foriegn policy of USA, Arab population will always be agaisnt USA. USA takes Arab blood so cheaply. Can you even imagine how USA would have reacted had an incident similar to Qana occurred in Israel? Lebabnon would have been completely destroyed by Israel.

About Hezbollah... Ok just imagine a scenario. Indian army invades Nepal. Nepal army is so weak and they surrender to Indian army. But then a group of people create a resistance movement agaisnt the Indian army. They fight to liberate Nepal from India. They fight with the Indian army. And after 18 years of fighting, they drive Indian army from Nepal. And after that the UN resoluton(like 1559) comes that calls for disarmment of that resistnace group. You as a Nepali want that resistance group to disarm so that India can invade Nepal again? These resistance movement is exactly Hezbollah in Lebanon. People keep barking that Hezbollah is a terrorist orgainization. IS Anyone against USA a terrorist? If you go back to history, USA called Hezbollah a terrorist orgainization after 100 sth US soldiers were killed in a suicide bomb attack in Lebanon. But US government defines those outfits as terrorist who harm the innocent people. And USA termed hezbullah a terrorist state after the bombing of the US soldiers who arent innoncent. They were invloved in figthing with Hezbollah and they got killed.FYI Collin Powell, the former US secretary of State, expressed his dissent when US government labblled Hezbollah a terrorist. A freedomfighter for some is a terrorist for other.

This hatred of Arab people against israel/USA and hatred of Israeli people against the Arab will remain until the Palestine/Israle problem is solved. You know what Palestine are asking? they are asking 15% of their territory that they had before 1967. is that unfair?

The solution is: Jerusalem is a sacred place for both the Jewish and Muslims. So I think to avoid this conflit, it should not belong to any country. It should belong to neutral organization like UN and christians/Muslims should get permission (sth like visa) from UN to go their for limited time just for religious worshiping or similar things.

Mansion, Hezbollah and Hamas are two completely different story and the only thing common between them is their faith and that also can be disputed with one being shiite and other sunni. My sympathy lies with Hammas which is not so true for Hezbollah. In my above post I was just pointing out how two warring factions have used their political muscles to change their perception to the world and as I have pointed out Hezbollah has fared much better in that war. It has gained support and sympathy from the whole world and also from the people of Lebanon. Just to point out the case - Hezbollah a minority party before the war started has the support of 82% of the Lebanese people now. But what has Isreal gained? International condemnation for killing in Qana, U.N. condemnation for killing its personell with a percision guided bomb, a big black mark on its credibility on the news comming out of the war...... Well that was my point..
As far as what should be done.. Since Isreal dosen't seem to be making any significant progress in the war the only logical thing I suppose would be a cease fire and that is before Hezbollah is disarmed. Yes, it would be a symbolic victory for Hezbollah but considering the recent wave of civilian death, I think it is agreeable

Rein, no doubt that the double standard exists in the part of US government but I think it is just another bitter truth of life that we have to swallow. Every situation is different and it has to be taken into consideration in its own entirety.
But here is the problem I have with Hezbollah and believe it or not it won't be the first time you are hearing it. How can a group be a part of the a democratic process when it has its own standing army? If it thinks that Lebanon needs a strong enough army to defend it against Isreal than why doesn't its party stand behind it and run the election on that and let the people decide? Apparently hezbollah did run on that and the people of Lebanon decided otherwise and hence they are the minority party. The other thing with Hezbollah is that it is too manupalive and has different forces action upon it visibily. The only way I would even think of supporting Hezbollah is if it decied to disarm itself and also demonstrated its independentness.

o_o I just want to make it clear that I am not a Hezbollah supporter. The thing that bothers me is the killing of the innocent civilians by the israeli terrorists. 37 children killed in one attacK???? I couldnt watch those videos of the inncoent faces of those children covered by the concrete. My blood seemed to shoot out of my eyes when the israeli Ambassador to UN and the israeli justice minister told that those who didnt leave that building after warning from the Israeli are terrorists. WTF? they are the poorest of the poor. They simply didnt have money to leave. Most of those who could afford to leave southern lebanon had left/ are leaving. But the poor ones are left behind. And when Red Cross tries to go there to help them, Israel bombs and kills the volunteers working for Red Cross. What do the poor people do? WHAT???

about disarming Hezbollah... i strongly believe that Hezbollah militias should ultimately integarate themselves with the Lebanese Army , but after few things are kept in place: 1) Change in the political framework of Lebanon: If you look at the poiltical system in Lebanon, they have the provison of having 50 percent Christians in the governemnt no matter which party wins. Rest are shared by others. That has to change. Irresspective of the religious belief, the party that gets the majority should be allowed to decide who they want to put in government. This is one reason Hezbollah should not disarm immediately coz after they disarm, if Israel invades Lebanon, then it is the Shiites muslims that will be the victims of Israeli terrorism. 2) israel is one the most powerful countries in the world militarily. Even if whole Arab nations join hands, they wont be able to match israel militarily. Israel has the most sophisticated weapons, thanks to USA. So until and unless the international Community provides some sort of concrete assurance that Lebanon will be saved from Israeli invasion, disarming Hezbollah will not serve Labanese interest. 3) Christians in Lebanon and those in government are time and again accused of not wanting to strengthen the Lebanese army. There should be some mecahnism that ensures that no matter which government of whatever belief comes to power, the Lebanese army should be always made strong so that they can at least put some resistance to israleis if they attack Lebanon.

the bottom line is poor innocent people should not suffer any more.and the monstrous terrorist like the Isralei ambassdor to UN should not be allowed to party at the deaths of the innocnet children, like in qana.
