I don't believe in killing. I believe every human being should have a chance to live a happy and just life.

The word freedom fighter is synomous with terrorists depending on which side of power you are in. Freedom fighters are generally termed terrorists by the side which has the power. The ones who are fighting for power or justice are known by their kind as freedom fighters.

Back to the chosen land.

The UN had passed a resolution many decades ago asking Israel to leave from Gaza strip. But noone is there to enforce that resolution. The UN just becomes the spokesperson of the people who pay their salaries. Obviously the people who work for the UN needs to get paid, and whoever pays their fat salaries and benefits will obviously have some sway over them.

Israelis continue to need more land so they forcibly take over the land from the Palestines. They drive them from their own land saying that they don't have the right papers. Israel with the support from the US get away with everything. In the end, the fragile innocent human bodies are no match for the strength of the dollar and the firepower. Israel being one of the largest receiver of US aid. This is in turn connected to the fact that there is a lot of Jewish influence in the US economy and politics.

To state it bluntly, Israelis bully the palestines and lebonese in their own countries. If they quietly agree to be supressed they are spared but if they raise their voice or questions then they are killed off. Families are being shred apart because Israel controls many places within palestine. I read this comparision somewhere. "it's like owning the rooms in the house, but the corridors are forcefully taken over by the israelis".

How can the world stand quietly and watch while this kind of atrocities are being committed? Peoples right to live peacefully is constantly being affected and bullied by the force of the firepower.

Although I don't agree with violence, I understand now why people become terrorists. Their right to live humanely is being denied forcefully. We are all human beings. What hurts one person will hurt another too. How can nations like the US and Israel have policies that undermine the value of lives in another county or countris? Pretending to stand for justice and righteousness, are all their motives controlled by greed and superiority?

When a person cannot live their lives without being bullied everyday, I can understand how it can reach a point where they don't care about their lives anymore and resort to suicide bombings. These people who are bullied constantly don't care about thier lives anymore. Thousands of their innocent people have been killed and they want to inflict the same pain on countries like US, UK Israel, which don't show any humanitarian attitude towards these unfortunate people of these unfortunate countries.

It is such a shame that innocent people lose their lives everyday because the governments of powerful countries are corrupt and selfish. They have so much power, they can use it for so much good of the world. But they chose to use it for their own personal benefits only. The common people of these powerful countries, who have no idea what's going on and are just plain happy to continue their way of life, have to live with risk constantly because they could be the target of a terrorist attack by people who are fighting for their freedom of their people from repression and terrorism.

Very interesting. One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist. As someone once said today's extremist is tomorrows moderate. When power cannot change hands peacefully, and people hang on to positions of power and glory no matter what the cost, violence is often the outcome - and quite an effective one at times. The Middle East conflict cannot be solved by force. The tragedy is there are too many people on both sides who think it can.

As they say, with great power, comes great responsibilities but these super powers only feel responsible towards themselves.

They forget that we are living in an ecosystem where everything is delicately tied together either directly or indirectly.

The state of world politics is at the worst ever this world has seen. United Nations, the organization meant to protect the interest of all countries big and small is tied up in the arms race itself. If you look at the countries in the UN Security Council, all of them are the Top manufacturers and ultimately sellers of weapons. Weapons being one of the most expensive commodity, it doesn't take too much to imagine the conflict of interest. The agency that is supposed to provide a sense of security in the whole world, sells weapons of mass destructions during their free time.

When you think about it, it's not a big surprise that Killers like Maoists are now in forefront of Nepali politics.

So much good can be done with the help of money and power. But it's always used against mankind. The great contradiction likes in the fact that only those who are greedy for money and power can attain such a position, and once they attain it, they want more. Instead of using it for the good of others they will use it to amass more money and more power. There is a need to be better than everyone, bigger stronger than everyone else. That is the unfortunate side effect of capitalism.

Even if you look back at our countries politics, look at King G. He had so much power and money. When i decided to take control of the country, he could have done so much good by slowly diseminating power and money, but instead, he put a killer on his government, hoping that he would become more powerful. And look what that got him. There will be hundreds of more incidents like those where powerful people seek to become more powerful at the expense of innocent people's lives which are deemed valueless instead of priceless as it should be.

After all a human life is priceless. We are not in the jungle age where we have to hunt other human beings for food. We can always find our own food by using the untold resources in the world without having to kill a priceless life.

excellent topic saroj, i appreciate it...

the labanon israel colossal dispute can well be juxtaposed with that between maoists and the state of nepal. terrorism is a dangerous yet an interesting phenomenon. i have always believed that there is a thin line that segregates terrorism from revolution. you've got to analyse the cause and the process.

terrorism is NOT something which comes from choice. it's a LAST resort. it's a result of a gargantuan emotional perturbance and trauma that a person or a group undergo through. no matter how absurd and non-sensical it may look to a normal person, it may be THE solution for the person who actually go through that trauma.

human are animals in reality. they feel pain and will try to retaliate the discomfort. a tiger which is deprived from living in its natural habitat and kept in a cage for long will either succumb to death or will revolt as a rebel. the latter may be termed as a terrorist if he resorts to violence...

hahahahaha camo bhai.

thought i am done for the day posting but your childish comment made me write again...

its the method? well may be but not completely!

have you heard of bhagat singh, the freedom fighter? do you know what he did? he tried to bomb the east india company's police dept and actually did kill policemen and in the process police retorted and several innocents were killed. with yours and ImI definition bhagat singh IS a terrorist

do you know how many innocents got killed in jana andolan 2046 or in april revolution or during the last 10 years of maoists revolution? NO....

if those revolutions were not successful then all these freedom fighters would still be tagged as terrorists. it's not always method bhai. it's the cause!! what are you doing it for? is it right or wrong....THAT separated terrorists from revolutionists.

Imi said "It is not the cause , it is the method that distinguish between freedom fighters and Terrorists"

So tell me about the innocent civilians killed by Israelis. Today, Israeli have said that all in all they have killed 93 Hezbullah fighters. Till today, 900 Lebanese have died. So 807 of those killed are innocent civilians. So, if Israel Kills innocent civialians (most of them are children below 13), isnt that terrorism? Dont tell me that Israelis wanted to tagrget the hezbullah , but innocents got caught in the middle. According to you, no matter what your aim is, if ur method is wrong (i..e. if u kill innocents), then that is terrorism. Again dont say that hezbollah hides behind the civilians , so civilians get killed. Because accoirding to u, no matter how good your cause is (killing Hezbullah hiding behind civilians), if ur method (killing innocents) is wrong, then that is terrorism. So isnt that terrorism from Israel?

Loote ji,

First of all let me tell you that I have NOT commented on anything here about the Terrorist and Freedom fighter, however I have as much knowledge as you have regarding these terms. I really don't want to argue about these terms. It's something the world is using for their own benefit. People like you and me are nothing, billions of Dollars are being spent just to describe these term in one's favor.

I liked the quote ImI has said. It's really the method. A freedom fighter can become a terrorist to other people. A person can be a Freedom fighter for a long term but, if he wants to blow something which will terrorise those people living there will surely termed as terrorist act.

And I am so sorry, that I cannot write more in it as I am at work and I believe you have some other important work to do besides explaining me in here.

Have fun Friend. :D

Lastly, I like the way you write.

But then again "everything is fair in love and war"
At the same time, civilians should not be targeted.
Most of you folks raise interesting points.
Cheers!!

Imi they are fighting for the freedom to live fairly in their own lands without being harassed by israelis everyday. So yes they are freedom fighters.

Are their acts of terrorism justified? Killing an innocent life is never justified whether it's in the form of terrorism or anti-terrorism.

I was watching CNN yesterday when it showed the video of a suicide bomber. His message was very clear. His message was for the people of the US and UK. He said that people of US and UK your government is suppressing us and killing a lot of our innocent people. They are doing it because of your support. You have to stop supporting them.

I really felt bad for them. It wasn't like he said he's going to kill himself and others so that he can go to heaven or anything. He simply said he's doing it so that people in US and UK will start questioning the activities of their Governments and stop supporting their unfair decisions.

"It is not the cause, it is the method that distinguish between freedom fighters and Terrorists!!!!!!!!!!".
- I don't find this statement earth shattering or anything. There is really no difference between freedom fighter and terrorists. In fact they are the same. The terrorists are called freedom fighters by their people.

You might have meant to point out the difference between established government and terrorists. If you look at the current war between the hezebullah and israel, there is not much difference besides that fact that the established govt of israel with more sophisticated weaponry from the US are killing more people in lebanon and palestine.

After 3 weeks of fighting the Israelis are still saying they are going to rid Lebanon of Hezbullahs. They should know by now that Lebanon IS Hezbullah country.

Is violence ok? Let's not put it in a context but violence at it is seen. Is it ok? Once we start to give context to violence we excuse is.
I believe that violence in any form is not justifiable. Once you start to take lives of other people, no matter how just your cause was, it becomes unjust and you can be seen as a terrorist. I am not dismissing pleas of thousands of people from middle-east who are termed as terrorists. I agree with that countries like US and Israel are terrorist states. It is obviously easier to single out a small group and call them terrorist than an entire nation. But the fact is, no matter where humans have arrived or evolved today, and no matter how reluctant we are to go on a war compared to before, we are still animals. We have the urge for violence. Only few are exceptions. Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King. And it is no wonder why Bhagat Singh's name is not written at the same level as Mahatma Gandhi's in history. While Mahatma Gandhi continues to inspire other people, Bhagat Singh has been forgotten. And there is a reason for it.
