I was planning to transfer my collge for this fall, and I will going to Nepal this December. Since I will have a new I-20, is it true that I have to re-apply for a visa before I depart from Kathmandu. Is it mandatory to do so?
Any information regarding this will he highly appreciated?

thanx in advance

If you have valid visa than you don't need to go to embassy even if you changed the school. It's fine to travel with I-20 with SEVIS no. That's the good part of SEVIS.

thanx saan_dai for the information... I do have a valid F1-visa
r u sure about this? beacuse i dont want to waste $300 just to re-apply for one.
as far i have heard people with a different I-20 do go to the embassy to re-apply for one. As it is almost 100% sure that they get the visa, its the $$$ part that I am hesitating about.

it is not 100% sure if you go to embassy , you will get visa. I know few guys who had trouble. But as long as you have MULTIPLE ENTERY VALID F1 VISA you don't need to go to embassy I am 100% sure about it. Take you new I-20 endrosed by International advisor if good enough to travel , but take your school ID with you sometimes immigration people ask for that.

Yes, I think Saan Dai is correct.
You dont need to reply eventhough your I-20 has changed.

you may be worried that the new I-20 doesn't have the stamp as the previous one.
It doesnt' matter.

But you need to meet your international advisor.

My university gave me another I-20 once I arrived here and again another one after some day..( I have 3 I-20s).
Now I dont need the older one.

Just don't forget to take all of your I-20 s with you. Keep everything, you never know when you will need it. I was stopped in Frankfurt although my visa was valid and had to show them everything.

You don't need to reapply. But as others have said, take all of your I-20s. If you can, take your transcript and next semester's schedule.
