There seems to be a boom in the IT rescruitment business. IT firms are grabbing whoever they could lay there hands on to recruit them as their future consultants after half baked training courses for less than 2 months. If you are working as an IT consultant for a desi firm in the USA and you are contracted out to clint offices as part of your consulting job, I would like to hear about your experience, work culture, billing rates ....basically anything you feel comfortable sharing with the sajha family. I hear there is lot of exploitations going on and felt that sharing such experience could help others to make more informed decisions and not fall the the desi-baked traps.....

Yeah, U R right that they are grabbing anybody from anyfield. So be careful for all this kind of Dhotis consulting company. Try to do good research before you join. They seems to lie all the time. Be careful. Try your best to negotiate for the salary. You only know how much they pay u but not how much company pay for you(Company wants bang for buck). Try to find a company which have been established atleast for a while and have descent amount of consultant working. I have seen people not getting paid from this kinda company for months. You can go to http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp and find out when the company was roughly created. I would think twice going to newly established company. Anyway be careful.

I had a similar experriences couple of years back. An Indian guy wanted to hire me, and offered all kinds of $$... and that I will be doing VPN all the time, no need to come to office and would be doig a quite a travelling on companies expenses. Sounded really gr8, but before quiting my job, I decided to do a small research and found few very interesting things. To begin, I did check for domain registration and found that it was registered to his house add (a big one), then followed his office address (this was major surpriise), it was addressed to a UPS drop-off location and the suite number on his business card was a post-box. I checked with the UPS people and found that this guy had nothing. I ran and ran....
