1.द्रोण को छोरो को जस्तो आयु होस्,
2. दशरथ् को जस्तो श्री होस् (इज्जत्)
3. दुर्योधन् को जस्तो मान् होस्

These three lines from the NONSENSE BLESSINGS DASHAIN MANTRA either have to be deleted or replaced. Reasons:

1. can you apply the first line to PRACHANDA AND BABURAM? Age does not matter. Karma matters.

2. Dasharath is the one who was JOITINGRE ( जोइटिग्रे )and he kicked out his son and Buhari to the jungle. Do you think it is IJJAT?

3. Duryodha is the one who wanted to see a naked woman-Draupadi. Do you want your son to do the same thing? and you call it MAN?

You completely missed the point:

* have a long life... it doesn't say anything about karma and else... just have a long life....
*Dashrath was not joitingre.... if you know your religion, it was his words...(रानीलाई उनको बिरताको लागी बरदान दिने बचन थियो दशरथको) त्यहि बचन पालना गर्नु उनको धर्म थियो। joitingre hune kunai question chhaina. If you know more about hinduism which I doubt you do, dashrath ko testo kirti ra izzat bhayera nai bhagwaan le unko ghar ma janaam line kaam garnu bhayo. Do you know how this izzat came into place? devasur sangram ma dashrath le devta haru lai sahayata garnu, was the most... any there are many reasons....
*This doesn't say anything about behave like Duryodhan.... duryodhan ko jasto maan matro hos...

don't be stupid and try to go into deeper meaning don't just float in the surface...

its people like you who don't know anything about our religion and prech ......

hahahaha....so you are up for a revolution huh?

well, you may be write to some extent but then who wants to scrutinize? as i have experienced, most people who utter that 'slok' also end up giving additional blessings in nepali.

like my father put tika on my forehead over the phone last night haha :P

he went "aayur dorna sute.......kritischa narayane"
then he said, la babu taile mann le chitayeko pugos, uttarottar pragati gares, raamri keti paayes bihe garna ko laagi, sukha samriddi hos, naam failayes sansaarbhari"

i was like "wow" who wants more? :P

LooTe
PS "mann le chitaayeko pugos" is the best blessing in my view:P....i will just desire, and it will be fulfilled....whoa!! :P

Exactly Tat, it is the 'practice of promise', which is so common in Nepalese culture since ancient time, that left no choice for Ram but to go to the jungle. Nepal ,which was born about 237 years ago, has been suffering from shuch promise(promise for exclusion)- sometimes from Dasharath and sometimes from politicians. What the use of such promise that compells your own son and Buhari(Nari) from home? This is an example of PRACTICE OF EXCLUSION which left so many peopel in poverty.Culture never taught Nepalese how to INCLUDE . Dasharath's act is a perfect example of EXCLUSION. A culture whcih can kick out its own son and Buhari from home, what such culture will do to others?

Deurali,
again I was only trying to explain the Dashrath's izzat, nothing else in his life that happened.... I totally agree there are so many things that needs change in our society without a doubt... talking about dashrath, he was the only father in the whole world who gave up his life when he had to part with his son... the world has only seen mother's love but here is a perfect example of father's love. Ramayana as a whole teaches us about our duties, duties as a son, father, husband, brother, humanity, religion, friendship. People take these things literally and not the point its trying to make. We have ramayana, mahabharata, bhagwad geeta each of these books teach us about different aspects of life but people take the stories literally and end up in the wrong side of the system.... Sure they have their own flaws cause they were written ages ago and some of those do not apply at this time..... kinda like Sharia law , that law was written centries ago and shouldn't be applicable today, but there are extremists who are willing to do anything for it.... what can I say... but neverthless, all I wanted to do was to explain Dashrath had izzat, Duryodhan had Maan and so on... and the aashirwad just takes those traits mentioned from each individuals and tires to make that happen for the person at the other end.... I totally agree with the fact that each individuals mentioned in the TIKA MANTRA had their own flaws.... like Dashrath was the one who klld Shrawankumar, Aaswathama klld young pandu putras and tried to kll King Pariskhit in his mother's womb, you know about Duryodhan and so on.....

1. action because of duties
or
2. action because of campassion

which one has more depth? which one sound more natural? compassion is a fact. when it happens, it happens. Duties are more like opinions, ideas, concept generated by human minds. People force themselves to fulfil duties whereas in compassion, there is no force.

Both are right at their own place... do you really believe, if there was no force people will do the right thing out of compassion. Do you really think, everyone will help a helpless old lady and not robb her... Come on come to reality.... compassion is good for that perfect world where people are nice.... otherwise we need these laws, rules. If everyone was compassionate about helping the lady... then ok , but not everyone is about helping people... so we need this sense of duty where it says respect your elders... so may be just may be someone might change his/her mind and help this old lady... Just think about this... remove law from this earth.. and imagine where our compassion takes us....
Finally, I don't know how this thread became debate about life issuse, all I wanted to clear up was that MANTRA's MEANING... I never said its good bad... all I wanted to clear was its meaning....

Dear Tat, if religion had ability to resolve human misery, it would have been wiped out long time ago. Can you see the failure of not only hindu religion but all the religions that exist in today's world?

Nothing will resolve human misery, its the people themselves... unless everyone sincerely wants, it is never going to happen. There will always be someone at some corner trying to make profit out of someones misery, unless that sort of thing keeps on happening, peace in our land is quite impossible. I was not preching about religion, they are just philosophy, kind of guidelines.... but it comes down to the people to do the right thing.... I reaffirm my position... I didn't reply to this thread beause I think highly about our culture, religion... no... I just replied to this thread just to clarify that mantra....
