I am trying to see what all you guys use against Ad-ware, Spyware and all other unwanted software, services and scripts that infests our computer.

I am sick and tired of reviewing my system every week... I have a firewall, antivirus but they always get their way out..

I surf a bit to get information I need (btw I do not go to j pai tei sites)

I use following apps,

Ad-Ware SE
Symantic Antivirus
Hijack-this
SpyBot

and i play around with msconfig and regedit to look for suspicious entries...

what else do you guys use or do against it???

I also Use Turn up!

i really like the Tune up utility.. its really cool..
i used that crack you gave me however.. after using it for 2 hrs.. it gave me an error saying that its not genuine ( :) hehehehe)
is there a way to crack it again?

I have just re-installed the tune-up 2006,from the link I provided you and Used the same key. I will se if I also get the same error as you do, If I do I will find the crack. If not the, I have the installation software that you can have.

But open the downloaded crack file in your test PC if you have one, or in the Virtual PC or at your own risk.

I have found PC Tools SpyWare Doctor a very powerful tool to remove spywares/adwares. For a month, I think, it is free, and after that, you will have to register to get the service.

But here's the trick:

Just go to the locations it shows that have malicious spyware/adware, and remove it manually. Most of the time you can, if you can't, go to safe mode to do it.

Also, this is really a very good way to be away from the virus, spywares/adwares. Don't use the internet as an administrator. If you log on as the "Guest," the system (oh, it applies ONLY for Windows XP, I think) wouldn't let any program download. Even with your knowledge, it can't be downloaded because the user Guest is not given the privilege to do so.

Should you need to download anything on purpose, you can always switch back to the account with administrator privilege.
