NJP warns of launching armed struggle in support of King
A few months after Nepali people took back state power from the King ending 14-month long direct rule of the King, the Nepal Janatantrik Party (NJP) has said that it will launch an armed struggle in support of the king from the far west.

A letter issued by the party, which reportedly has its headquarters in Kailali’s Dhangadhi, to journalists stated that a ‘sabotage programme’ will be launched from mid-December to mid-February in support of the King, reports said.

In a letter distributed to the journalists the party had warned that the party would embark on an armed struggle.

“An armed struggle has been declared from the far west to show disagreement with the current political activities, in the context that all others except the seven political parties and Maoists are being treated badly,” the letter added.

It also said that the Nepal Janatantrik Party was formed on May 24, 2006. The CDs distributed to the journalists contained the party’s declaration.

The letter read that Rana Bahadur Chand ‘Samrat’, Shailendra Dhami ‘Jeevan’, Tapendra Bhatta ‘Smriti’, Janak Bhandari ‘Basant’ are the central president, vice-president, general secretary and secretary of the party, respectively.

The party’s seven-member committee also includes Narendra ‘Bam’, Sudarshan Damai ‘Surya’ and Sanyog Bhat ‘Sansar’. nepalnews.com pb Oct 16 06

Janadharana , 12 October

At a time when the SPA-led government and the Maoists are discussing the future of the monarchy, 47 independent politicians have released a statement in favour of the monarchy demanding that the peace talks be led by the king. The statement begins: ‘This scared earth of Nepal cannot bear to watch the weakening of the monarch who has borne the historic responsibility and given it warm guidance.’

Independent political leaders like Radheshyam Thapa, Dinbahadur Aryal, Dharmaraj Giri, Haribahadur Basnet, Kamansingh Basnet, Golche Sarki, and Dhanendra Bahadur Basnet signed the statement.

They state that the king’s 24 April proclamation was a fulfilment of a historic responsibility to safeguard the sovereignty of the state, the unity of the Nepali people, and the betterment of the country, and that it did not stem from personal aspirations. ‘Any step that aims to disrupt the cordial relations between the king and the people, the united force of the people, and the historic establishment of the monarchy will not be beneficial to the country and the people,’ the statement adds.

Yes. This is very strange but true. NJP has also started forming branches in rural areas of districts of the far west like achham, doti etc. And it is also in early stages of forming its armed militia, in ways similay to what the maoists did a decade back. It has plans to extend its organisation throughout the country within next 3-4 months. It is also luring the lower armed cadres of the maoists in villages with prospects of better salary.

People opposed Girija when he talked of giving spaces to the ceremonial monarchy, the parties as well as the maoists. Everyone told that he was a pratigamankaari. But what he was telling was the reality of Nepal. We can't totally ignore any one of these groups and then dream of having a peaceful Nepal. All three must come into some sort of negotiation for peace to prevail.

Don't know what's going to happen now.

I don't know what these people are smoking. It seems like some of these people have been forced to take in some "black matter."

Sooner or later this was bound to happen and you have no one but the maoists' stupidity to blame for this. maoists have zero international support and they themselves do not trust nepali people (rightfully so because of the murder and forceful seizing of nepalis' property), thus they don't want to let go of their arms. i suspect the maoists now do not have india's blessing they were enjoying in the past as well (since india was exposed of harboring these terrorists in front of the international community and probably also becuase india's main goal was accomplish as it didn't want any 1 instituation to be a strong force in nepal and monarchy was gaining popularity due to the failure of 12yrs old multi party democracy, which is yet another reason i suspect india behind royal massacre which made gayendra and monarchy an easy escapegoat in the eyes nepali people.

well anyhow...back to the topic. just like india took advantage of moists by harboring and financing them to use against monarchy....monarchy which has probably more wealth than anyone imagines will now use NJP. you've already got an armed force in the terai region JTMM now with NJP....what a sad situation for nepal and nepali.

looks like the maoists are in desperate mode so look for them to make more stupid moves in the days ahead.
