Is there such a thing or is dialup the only option? Ok I know I may be pushing my luck a bit here but what about wireless access? Going back home after a long time 5+ ; any relevant response would be much appreciated.

Ok while I have your attention; what are the new bars worth going to in ktm these days? Now now don't hold back here ;)

when I was there in July, they had few cable internet service providers. worldlink is one of them. they offer speeds upto 128k. But i heard the actual speed is quite slow.
Some cafe had wireless internet.

Dial-up is still the predominant internet connection method in KTM. But some business houses and some areas do have higher speed connection. I say higher because it is NOT what you may come to understand as high speed there in the US. Here any thing that is faster than 32 kbps might pass as high speed.

Of course, certain embassies and international bodies already enjoy real high speed internet connection - probably sattelite.

Dude.. honesly..in kTM it doesnt matter if u have dial up for cable.. its not even 1MBpS..
the actual cable speed is 75kbps vs 56kbps of dial up.. the isps tune up and the speed shows up little over 100 kbps..

Good Luck and ENJOY.. KTM has changed a LOT...
i went after 5 yrs myself earlier this year..

If you want to have Internet Access from anywhere in Nepal and willing to spend money go for the Satellite Connection. Nowadays you can rent the satellite equipments like BGAN terminals.

Good Luck!!!

Well, Subisu is one of them. If you are willing to spend money then you can get your desired speed. I was there few months back when I had a fibre connection direct to my PC where I got maximum speed of 512kbps downlaod and 256kbps upload which I was subscribed for.

Dude, bandwidth in nepal is pretty expensive. However, you can achieve more than 1 mbps within the npIX bound for whatever speed you are subscribed for.
Subisu provides fibre connections for corporate clients and some home users who can afford. There are RF cable connections (like cox in US) for home users which provide pretty good speed with TV channels as well. You can simply check the availability of the services in your area. I find 256kbps are usual choice for the home clients. There are also other ISPs like worldlink who provides cable internet services by UTP cable.
I heard enet is also there on the race.

I don't think wireless internet is so abundant in kathmandu as you expect. I heard few cyber cafe has wireless connection to their ISP.

Good luck dude!

.Worldlink had some good deals. The most popular one they said is the night surfing plan (128K speed, 6PM to 10AM weekdays and unlimited weekend) for about Rs 1000 per month.

They can install within few business days. It required 3 month contract, so I didn't get it. I did test drive it at their office and it was not bad, but much better than dail up.

Nepal's high speed connection is like dial up here. But it is workable. Remember we used to use dial up until 5 years ago here in the USA.

Hey Dude , I was fed from contineous disconnecting while up using dial up I switched to radio link with a bandwitdh of 128 Kbs and found it good. It was 2 years ago. I heard nowdays cables are equally popular in a very reasonable rate....... ISPs in Nepal should need to come up with something good to offer
