Poor Cleo. I think it's time you move back to Egypt be among your own there. An Arab woman trying to be Nepalese just does not cut it. So stop trying to be a wannabe Nepali woman because that clearly is out of your league. Don't feel bad because it is an honor and privilege to be a Nepali, and not many are at the level to be so. It's ok. You should go where you belong and not try to hang out here with us.

hi cleo, read ur problem.the words u used and the psychology u wrote with is really looking for an honest and a genuine suggestion.i may not b a good advisor but of course can share some thoughts.as far as human nature is concerned, it gets changed automatically coz of his environment and specially due to the circle e.g. frens et colleagues etc or someone special with whom u have a great attachment.for example u have a great attachment with someone n he does not care about ur feelings or just does not respect u , then u get changed.u get reflected.it happens unknowingly.similarly u r completely mixed up with the people of another thinkings n society n nature.u stated"I kind of dislike everything about him( I mean not the person)" but u said somewhere before "he is nice and a nepali in every possible way".ur sentences contradict each other.what do u mean by nepali in every possible way? manners? way of talking?attitude?dress-up?personality?? there is nothing wrong with that person neither with u.it is just a sudden change of social contact.u r being used to with another kind of society and u have learnt to deal with people in another way.u find his behaviours awkward.it is just the matter of time.once u start laughing together u forget how he chews his food. what i want to say is u r not bad in urself, not at all or else u wouldnt be disappointed saying m feeling bad about myself.why should u?when u say urself he is a nice guy that means u have positiveness in u and ur words clearly reflect ur will of accepting the awkwardsness but u just don know how.i would suggest u to avoid what makes u feel awkward or what u dislike about him.just change the topic.start with something u both like.show a mango tree and say i would climb upon a tree and pluck it or ask would u hit the mango without the climbing but just don go for eating that mango by licking his hand when the juice drops down from hand or not?start with something beautiful.no one is perfect.u may be more civilized but everyone has his own way of thinking and u should respect him.no one knows may be the things u dislike about him now will teach u a great lesson in future.i would say just a matter of time.forget what u don like about him, think wow at least i found someone whom i can say "yaar'" or "k chha?" in my own language.everything will come out to be in ur favour with the passage of time. ASTU!!!

Haha, it kinda reminds me of when i was the only nepali on campus... in a small town, middle of nowhere. And like you i din't know any one else from Nepal. You get used to it... after 4 years, a guy from nepal came to where i was, i bet he though i was arrogant and what not because i was always pre occupied with stuff... and the coincidence was he rented an apartment right above me otherwise i'd probably not know him... He's a really nice guy, really genuine but to begin with i had a hard time.. i really didn't know how i was suppose to act or what i was suppose to do. Simple things like him talking in nepali to me when there were people around who couldn't understand nepali kinda started irritating me... but i think it just takes time for them to adjust and well as time for us to adjust too... At least that's my experience.

When people come to USA as undergraduate, they totally forget Nepal and Nepali. I am TA of one of Nepali undergraduate and she does not speak Nepali with me. What the hell you think of yourself? Did you already become American? Did you forget your language and culture? I mean does it hurt to feel being Nepali and speak Nepali with another Nepali ?
