hi guys ,
i have joined a community college after transfering from university. i was thinking of going back to nepal this december for about two weeks, but i am suspicious whether i will have any immigration problem when i return. most of the people say that after tranfering to community colleges you have least chance to return, is it true? have anyone of you been to nepal while you are in a community college? please do reply asap.
will appreciate your thoughts.

Don't worry...enjoy your trip...the immigration law will be the same for students going to univeristy or community college...Your Visa has to be current and I-20 signed by your International advisor not more than a year ago...if it was signed more than a year ago..ask your international advisor to issue new I-20...it just takes a couple of minutes..

my visa expires on 2008 and my new i 20 was issued in jan 2006. i have not yet signed my i 20 from the advisor. so now i just need to sign the new i 20 not the old one from the univeristy right? beside that do i have to take any other papers?

Nanu,
You are right. It doesn't mater if you go to university or community college, immigration law is same to all students. But.....
It does matter when you get I-20 for a university, go there for only 1 semister and then transfer to a CC.

I don't know if they will find out about that at the Consular office but if they do, most likely they will reject visa to come back here. IF you don't have to reapply visa, then there is nothing to worry about.

If you have transfered, you need to reapply for visa because the name of university on your visa does not match your I-20.

Shrestha456...since you have valid visa until 2008,you don't have to go Consular Office again..Same Visa will be valid for reentry but since you will be going Nepal in December and probably coming back sometime in January...your I-20 needs signature from your International advisor not earlier than January 2006...if it was signed earlier than a year ago, please ask your advisor to issue new I-20..it is just matter of couple of minutes work..

Enjoy your holidays...
