San,
One of the dai (Prem dai) had shared a link about a video which was posted yesterday. He wanted to share that music video (where he is singing) with his friends at Sajha. He called me last night and said that he couldn't find it.
By evening/night that thread was removed.

You might be thinking that we are promoting, but thats not it.

However, there are threads with free tv promo by Indian Site, and specially the thread by "rsubedi" still active. "http://sajha.com/sajha/html/openThread.cfm?forum=2&ThreadID=38179"

I m not against rsubedi who have been trying to keep his thread alive, but based on yesterday's situation, I think its not fair.

Can you kindly let me know the reason behind it?

Thank you,
Nischal.

Hi Nischals,

The posting in question was never removed. The reason that it could not be found is because 'try_it' posted it to 'Music/Movies/Entertainment' section. As you had noted, he wouldn't have been able to post 'nepali tube' into kurakani.

If you go to kurakani to find it, it's not going to be there. If you click on 'Other Discussions/Resources' link above the kurakani discussions on the homepage then you will be able to click 'Music/Movies/Entertainment' link where you will find the posting.

_____________________________________

On the same topic, as you know, I have repeatedly posted that if any site seems to be advertising in Kurakani, then necessary steps will be taken to dissuade them from advertising. A site will be considered advertising when either one or more of the following takes place

- same person posts multiple posts with link to same site
- different persons with similar IP posts links to same site
- different users plant irrelevent postings in order to bring links to top
- users who have been promoting different sites in past posts to promote the posting

Currently users cannot post urls to many sites into kurakani because at some point these sites were involved in one or more of the above. Although sajha is very lenient regarding casual promoting, it is very easy to figure out when someone is trying hard to promote their sites. As I have mentioned earlier, if these advertisements are not handled properly pretty soon most of the postings in kurakani will be promotions. As there are many affiliate programs in the internet thesedays which entice users to try to get visitors to their site for some cash, these kind of promotions will be monitored so that sajha kurakani does not turn into something like - http://www.nepaltalks.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=1

Right now some sites cannot be typed into kurakani, but it could be posted if some other usergroup was selected. For example in the above example 'try_it' posted to "music/entertainment' usergroup so it was able to be saved. Once it goes out of the main sajha page, then it is accessible through the Usergroup page as I described above.

If users start to take advantage of this roundabout method to get their site displayed sajha main page then we might have to restrict the front page to kurakani postings only instead of everything.

Regarding onlinemedia.in website, I have not banned that link because it does not seem like they are promoting their website in sajha. In fact, someone is sharing that link so that sajha users can take advantage of free Nepali Television.

I hope I have answered your question. Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.

Best wishes,
San

Nischals,

In order to cater to the need of other website owners and promoters, we now have a new section called 'Interesting/helpful Websites' usergroup where users are free to promote their sites.

If users are interested in checking out other promoted sites then they can navigate there easily from the 'Other Discussions' link, instead of being constantly subjected to continuous ads.

I hope you can use these links below on an as needed basis.

For sites: - http://www.sajha.com/sajha/html/openforum.cfm?forum=71
For music videos: - http://www.sajha.com/sajha/html/openforum.cfm?forum=57

Best wishes.

San dai,

Thanks for considering the link i posted "helpful" and moving it to the "helpful sites" section.

How come the website that's being featured in kurakani does not get moved to the helpful sites section? And somebody else had "mentioned" Nepal1 2 3 (that wasnt me) on the thread and that has been removed .... I had started a thread about Nepali TV long before OnlineMedia, trying to share the free service that I have been providing in partnership with NITV and now with OnlineMedia..... how come when I try to share some freebie with Nepalese is considered "PROMOTING" and when some other theread posted with the same cause, and exactly the same product is considered so ultra useful that it wont even get moved to the "useful sites" section.

... cant even submit this thread...

----------------------------

Some links to other web sites and blogs are not allowed to be posted because of excessive self promotion. Sajha is very lenient regarding sharing information but when someone excessively continues to promote their site/blog/link in sajha kurakani, this step has to be taken in order to discourage the use of Kurakani for advertising purpose.

Please feel free to promote links/advertise on classifieds section.

Thank you.

Looks like every other Nepali site is trying to make some money through google by piggybacking on free advertisement in sajha. Nischals, nepali media site and the other one nepal 123.com site both of those sites are showing the content from onlinemedia and promoting their sites to get google ad profits.

It gets ever hilarious to see these sites being removed or put aside by San. Is that because sajha is banned in adsense??

Wah Wah wah !!
I post tons of links here all the time. But I do not try and promote them to get revenue or visitors to that site. Once in a while I post a lil thing called titbits. And I leave it up to the people of sajha to choose. whereas the MORON above is specifically trying to Pimp ONE site that is TARGET MARKETING. THEREFORE NOT JUST SAN I AM OPPOSED TO THAT AS WELL. I ahve not known San removing any thread unless SOMEONE IN THIS SITE B!TCHES ABOU IT.

webjunkie...

at least nepali media cobranded with permission.

Why a big fuss when one nepali site is trying to show you free nepali tv with permission? You don't object when you see sexy pictures, but you object when we are trying to entertain you with free service.

If you do not want to see the ads, stupid pop ups then we do have paid subscription which is also in partnership with NITV network.
So I don't think any thing is wrong in this.

I can list you handful of Nepali websites that might make your point valid about piggybacking on google ads, but I don't want to go that far.

I hope you understand.
Thanks

Hello WebJunkie,

I have been running nepali websites long before Adsense or Contextual advertising even existed.

If I was only after google adsense, i'd rather start a website about "How car Financing works", "Credit Cards", and "Mesothelioma" and post them on more popular forums than Sajha.

And, Im proud to say that I am one of the few Nepali websites who hasn't abused the services that they have been getting from Google. I do not think I need all that money by making people click on google ads intensionally or by not letting my visitors read how car financing works. Shouldn't they be sharing such an important information with us, Nepalese?

Cyberharke,

You have promoted many many sites here in sajha in the past inspite of my personally requesting you not to. I have to use my discretion on figuring out which links look like they are being promoted and which look like they are being casually shared.

Webjunkie, i forgot to add in my list above that multiple links to sites that have excessive google ads will be considered as advertisements. Regarding google ads, sajha is not banned. The reason I am not putting any google ads in sajha is because I value user experience more than the few bucks earned from them. Quite a few users had mentioned to me that their sajha experience was being marred because of those ad placements. Hence I decided to remove google ads from sajha and only place it in ramjham.com.

I am a big fan of google which has changed human behaviour by providing a great search engine and a way for advertisers and publishers to come together through their adwords and adsense programs. I would like to request other Nepali web affiliated users to not use sajha kurakani as a campaigning ground for their quest to earn google dollars, since even I am not putting any google ads in sajha.

A google ad is displayed below:

That is strange. I still don't see it. Could it be my company firewall? Don't bother answering it though - not important at all.

But Nischals, if you're the Nischals I met at ANA, do you check your e-mails? Had sent you Mukti and Revival related stuff to two different addresses but never heard back.

Sorry folks for going off track from the topic at hand. Please disregard my note(s) and do continue with the thread's topic.
