nino rotta was absolutely great. but the music is from another italian film,"fortunella". that is why the score did not win the oscar.. having said that, the music is just great.. nino rotta's music can be enjoyed in many italian films. i would reccoment the ones done by federico fellini.
the movie was just great. pacino, brando, duval, jimmy cann, mario puzo, and the brilliance of coppola..

Live_wire bro! I did not know about the part that the score was in another movie too.

Speaking of Fellini('The Bicycle Thief' fame), one Italian restauranteur named a menu-item in the filmmaker's honor. Can you guess what the price on that dish was?

The novel is way way better than the movie.

Delta you are absolutely right.

Having heard so much about the movie, I had a chance to read the novel before watching the movie. Therefore, I was able to connect the dots easily. But then again, the cliche that a picture (and sound and music also here) is worth a thousand words made sense to me.

Great feedbacks people, Cheers!

wow TM!
what a movie! i absolutely loved the trilogy. one of my all time favs....

although marlon brando and robert deniro were superb, i, personally loved the michael corleone's character...a young, pampered son/brother later transfomms to DON corleone. AL PACINO ROCKS!!!!!!

here are some of the greatest moments from the movie:

film ramro ki book is an ongoing debate. mario pujo, who wrote the book and the screeplay thinks the movie was better. by the way, the book was a bestseller, very contoversial, BUT not a critical success. it was more of a pulp fiction full of violence and s#x aimed at the mass.

he was only ready to direct if the story was worked according to his vision. so he worked with Mario to rewrite the script.

most of the s#x part was left out. violence tonned down tara he maintained the intensity.. had the vison to cast pacino as michael, brando as vito both unpopular choices at that time.. evreybody (studio bosses) wanted a better looking actor, redford or ryan o'neil for michael. he further made a connection between government, business and the underworld-->his original idea. have not read the book, so I can't really compare, but there are plenty who think the film was better.it elevated a pulp tale full of s#x and violence to somewhat of a high art which was financial successful too.it was the first movie in Hollywood to gross over 100 million dollars. over all it is just wonderfully shot and acted.

Actually I have never watched any of Fellini's movies, therefore my bad.

The only Italian movies I have watched are as far as I remember are
'Il Postino' and 'Life is Beautiful'.

In most cases, books are better. But if a film is made by someone like Scorcese or Kubrick then impetus added via sights and sounds can be pretty compelling but not trying to discredit an ace director like Coppola. When an epic book is made into a movie, as you are aware they have to get rid of so many key scenes to accomodate to the length to a feature fiilm. (Brilliant editing comes into picture then I guess). Unlike the movie, the book enjoys the privilege of not being restricted by length or budget.

Nice video there Loote, my confidante. Where in the world did you find that clip.Duh! youtube right. LOL. 'Never made it as a wise-man huh!' Haha. The people who put together such clips are so easily forgotten or their secret authorship will be taken to their grave. Brilliant!!
