Stephen Colbert apparently did not find anything more interesting to talk about than a feud between Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan. He did so in his new "We The Mediator" segment during Tuesday night's show. He even played clips from "Mohabbatein" - however he picked lousy dance segments for Shahrukh as compared to powerful images of Amitabh. And Colbert's last line on the issue was to congratulate "Shahrukh for his Dilip Kumar against Amithabh's Raj Kapoor". A few weeks ago Colbert interviewed Deepak Chopra. I am sure one of the show's writers is Indian. Or did Asif Mandvi of The Daily Show with John Stewart have something to do with it?
Bollywood is slowly making its presence felt in America. A few weeks ago, there was one whole episode on Indian Diwali in the NBC series The Office (or was it some other show)? Nowadays they don't ridicule the Indians like Peter Sellers did in The Party.
Talking of ridicule, I still haven't gotten over the way Eddie Murphy and the producers of "The Golden Boy" made fun of Nepal and the Nepalese in the movie. Remember the cows roaming around in the airport (supposedly Kathmandu airport) customs area and Nepalese airlines offering chhoyela on pieces of newspaper as in-flight snacks.
yo maannnnnn it must be a long time ago..........indeed the kathmandu airport isn;t like what i had been seeing since a child...........this indeed rolls back to 1970s i guess!!!! but they really made fun of nepal.
