RAW's objectives

The objectives of R&AW [12] have been:

1. To monitor the political and military developments in adjoining countries, which have direct bearing on India's national security and in the formulation of its foreign policy.

2. Secondly, to watch the development of international communism and the schism between the two communist giants, the Soviet Union and China. As in other countries, both the powers had direct access to the communist parties in India.

3. Thirdly, to make the control and limitation of the supply of military hardware to Pakistan, mostly from European countries, the USA and China, a high priority.

4.Lastly, to use the presence of large ethnic Indian populations in foreign countries to form a powerful platform for lobbying. These countries could back a favorable policy in international councils, motivated by the ethnic Indian group.

Nice that somebody brought this up. Couple of Members assigned for interest in Nepal are

1) SD Muni
2) Gen. Ashok Mehta

They go long back to Nehru, Tribhuwan and BP. The Taskforce was more conentrated nutralizing ISI in Nepal than other influences. That was one of the Best things Mahendra and Birendra could do. Which was in a sense good for Nepal. Gyane on the other hand could not get along with ISI. He charged head on with the RAW.

RAW has been trying to promote communal disturbance in Nepal, promoting madhesibad in Nepal. This resulted in the Madhesi riot that we just saw and the issue is not going to be solved so soon. The educational assistance Idia provided under Colombo Plan was merely a way to proide unfair means to spread thecommunal feelings to Madhesis as they were the only ones to be selected unfairly. Most of the Indian based 'aids' program are concentrated in the Terai Region. They have complete control of all teh projects going on in terai region, they practice air force training crossing boarder in Nepalese Air.

The best part of all these is, is that the best ISI could do in Nepal. They have been heavily funded, best brains in the indian administration is provided for Nepal. Imagine Indian Embassy has more employees than the whole of the other embassies combined. The number of Spies and Activities RAW has been spending for the last half decade shouel have already turned Nepal into Bhutan. Thanks to Mahendra and Birendra that they could divert the resources of RAW towards nutraliaing ISI, CIA and Chinese Intelligence.

Just my 2 cents
