This is just an addition to the ongoing discussions sajha has been having about the future of the monarchy, the government and the maoists. It's a sad thing that we have come to this crossroad in our country's history wherein the king is now being made a scapegoat to take the blame for everything that the country has suffered in the last 14 years. Every since we got our democracy in 1990, if I remember correctly, we have had atleast 13 governments come and go. Neither of these governments were able to live up to our expectations. The Maoist revolution has claimed over 13,000 of our own. Now these same people are joining together to create a much better Nepal for us? I don't think so!!!! This is so weird to even think about. And I think we are partly to blame for this because we (as humans I guess) tend to have very short term memories. Everyone's talking abt JanaAndolan II and how 19 people lost their lives. Do you remember the unrest in the Terai claimed the lives of 29 people? Not the mention the rebellion killed almost 13,000.And it's just being brushed aside because the political parties and the maoists are still trying to keep the memory of the 19 people who died due to JAII. So that they can blame the royals for all the wrongdoing and themselves walk away scott free. Have we forgotten these were the very same people who were not able to control the Maoist insurgency when they were in the capacity to do so? And these people are the same ones who gunned down a high ranking police official(shrestha?), his wife and bodyguard in broad daylight inside Kathmandu just to get their point across. These people are playing us, my friends.
I don't what is good for us. But for now it looks like our country( and our fate) is only jumping from the frying pan to the fire.
Jayahos and Jai Nepal
