@mickthesick:

Colts98719 was not in lamda/2, i was (although it was never clear how many of us actually "lived' there, cause there were always a lot more people at our place). we lived there from 95 to 97. had the two seperate rooms at the end on the ground floor. it was the wildest 2 years of my life. was 'mama gwanch' still the cook there? he was a fun guy. we drove the 'sahu' to the brink of insanity. when we finally left in 97, he vowed in front of us saying 'aba ta jindagi bhar kathmandu ko keta haru lai kotha baal ma dinna...diye pani SLC ko certificate herera 80% bhanda badhi marks bhako lai matra dine ho".

.bluebus: it's funny, but when you guys left that apartment, some guys rented it until may 98. They left and I then rented it with two other friends of mine, starting August 98 until May 2000. We used the bigger room as our bedroom, and the smaller room (facing Banepa side) as our study room.

As of the "sahu", no, he did not check our SLC certificate. Probably because we were from Biratnagar, and not from KTM. "mama gwanch" was there when we cam ein on Aug 98, but left after a month or so. The sahu then hired a guy called "ramchandra", who I found later, had in fact worked in the Phulbari motel as a cook for a year or so before quitting, and leaving Dhulikhel altogether. He then came back to 28 kilo to work at Phulbari, but I think they would not hire him again, so our "sahu" being a generous and good guy that he is, hired him to cook for us at lambda/2.

Well, that was a bit of a history. Hope you had fun at lambda/2.

thanks a lot for the flashback, mickthesick. so we actually lived in the same room a few years apart, thats pretty cool. the front room (facing banepa) was my and my other friends room, while our 'other' 2 roommates had the other room. we were the 4 official tenants, but any given day, we would almost always had 2-3 'guests', and as many has 30 or so at some occasions. some of our 'guests' even had an offical Khata with the Sahu. we made pencil graffitis all over the wall, and the sahu made us pay for the paint job every year (twice), but we redid it again. dont know if you knew, but the sahu had a serious gambling problem, and he lost many green notes playing late night marriages at our place. anything we owed him, we'd substract it in our khata. ramailo hunthyo sahu lai rip off garna. The only time he got mad was when we had some big party (every week or so) or when someone got too drunk or stoned and passed out/threw up in the walkway or in front of the shop and stuff. we'd have to calm him down and pay up his dues and stuff, but he was a pretty gullible guy and we always got away with doing the worst possible things. oh yeah, and his big brother used to sell us weed, home delivery!!! that was quite something.

i can go on and on and fill pages about life there, but suffice to say that time spent at lambda/2 was the fondest to look back at. ramailo times.
