NEPAL TODAY: CHALLENGES OF INCLUSIVE DEMOCRACY
Saturday May 19, 2007 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

KEYNOTE ADDRESS: Mr. Subas Nembang Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nepal

Nepal is at a historic and crucial turning point. The people-led revolutions of 1990 and spring 2006 have shown the unprecedented courage of Nepali people in fighting for democratic rights. The recent uprisings, general strikes (bandhs), and continued demonstrations by large numbers of marginalized groups like Dalits, Janajatis, Madhesis, and women highlight the importance of establishing inclusive democracy.

Bob Kerrey, President of The New School invites you to participate in a critical dialogue on Nepal’s quest for “Inclusive Democracy” with Nepal’s prominent national leaders, political analysts, scholars and civil society leaders.

Why would people want to pay for attending a political conference??? Does not make sense. Ok so you say it's for the food - just sell the food to those who want to eat. Duhhh

Poonte Dai -

Good luck with the program. Would have liked to come but have other engagements that I cannot cancel.

Ratobhaley -

I see where you are coming from, but personally, I'd be willing to pay for attending a seminar like this. In fact, I think all events should have a fee to cover expenses. It is not uncommon for organizers of such programs to collect expenses from participants so that no one organizer ends up with a dent in his bank account.

Just my thoughts.

Happy Friday to you all.

Poonte bro, hope there's a decent turnout. I've let peeps I know who may be interested know about this. As for me, I'd rather stay away from the New School...Their radically commie curriculum and commie supporting beliefs have always been an incentive for me to keep myself at a 2 block radius (thanks to the Maoists I despise communism like a boil on the azz cheek)...Who knows, may just end up jumping on some commie sympathizing fools they have there!! LOL
