hi guys,

today I had last lecture test on Microbiology lecture. I got 92. I went to see instructor since this was our last day and next class would be comprehensive final, on tuesday. she said, she added 4 points to EVERYONE'S grade since there won't be other class to review for any errors made while grading them.

I checked my test papers and I found 2 right answers she had pointed wrong. so I asked her if i were getting 4 extra points, but she denied. and said that's why she added 4 pts to whole class. I said, I should have got 96 since everyone is getting 4 extra pts( for whatever reason it is). it is unlikely that whole class had some errors while grading. so most of the students have benefitted from that 4 pts. and looks like i haven't. this should not be a problem for me if I were gonna make an easy A or just landed B.. I have to make 98 in the comprehensive to make A. and getting A in this course is very important for me considering the competitiveness in the program.

any advice would be helpful.

well, if she told you guys about the extra credits --that it would be given to all regardless of the errors in grading-- prior to giving the exam, then i don't see you have strong enough point to claim those 4 points from the error she made while grading.

if not, go ahead and make a louder claim!

whatever it is, the idea sounds lame to me. how can she overlook the error she made while grading?

LooTe

This is hilarious. Keep your thinking to your exam. You were graded wrong on something that should've yielded four points and you got it as the instructor decided to give four points to everyone. Why do you care who profited and who didnt because of the additional four points? You got your fair share, isnt that enough for you?

not fair enough. I got fair share but not the additional pts all others have.

coz most of the students in my class are going to apply for the same program. and that program is so competitive that only the top performers are selected. only 100 out of like 600 students. getting A would make sense but B no way. it means my application will be pushed behind coz others doing bad got extra pts.

One of the virtues that can be learned in college is to be happy with what you deserve. Dont be jealous of something that you dont deserve. Also, if you think that four points in a college level class is going to be deciding factor for your acceptance in the program you really want to get in, then you better wake up from the dream now. Your conflict with your instructor might have a more strenuous effect on your future than four points you are having such a hard time giving up on.

vincent, you might be right in some way but in competition like that you gotta do what it takes man.deserve, jealous words are good for books, Out there whoever cheats, smarter get it done. I read a article weeks ago in yahoo, that said most of the successful students who land 100K job agreed they had to cheat in some points during student life and even later on while looking for jobs.
you can't say B is better than A. coz i might be short by 2 pts to get A in final. just don't want to leave any stone unturned.

I want to give every shot i can, so that later on, if i can't make it then it is satisfactory, at least you tried your best.
