I intend to edit this gaf gaaf in my free time and post it back here. While revisiting, I noticed quite a few bloopers in the piece.

Good read although I wished the comedy was more dry and subtle as most of the British comedies are. This work can be juxtaposed for similarities with that of Russell Peter's which I personally find more offending than funny. Good work nonetheless in writing.

.
" I gloated. Ah, the rewards of being a cynic. It is orgasmic."
---I feel the same way, many times, many many times.

"So this is what blogging is like? Now I see why even some marginal Hollywood thinkers are blogging in the Huffington Post."
-------I know you are referring to Alec Baldwin. Give the guy a break. He's been through too much lately.

And, yes, I feel the same way about Mount Everest. I have been an observer in many instances of my friends pumping their lungs to expand their chest cavity to describe and feel proud of Nepal's association with Mount Everest. And in each of those instances, I have looked for a corner in the room to hide myself.

Has anyone heard aishwarya speak? My goodness, her accent and english is the typical exampel of desi accent and laguage, i am not able to get her 'indian voice' out of my mind yet.

In Sajha, I have seen things get ugly quick. I am not a fighter by nature, so I will give up even before the dispute starts. Believe me this is not an insult piece.

Captain Ji,
The piece is not about accent. One sentence in the beginning may have given you that impression, but believe me you, it is not about accent or spoken English. Frankly, if accent and grammar bothered me, I would bother me a lot.

Godzilla,
Thank you for respectfully disagreeing. I welcome constructive criticisms. This being event-based situational observations that I narrated in first person, I felt the need to be transparent with my commentary. In my humble opinion, I compromised subtlety because I wanted you to feel what I saw. So I will have to, to a certain extent, disagree with you in regards to your Russel Peter comments. I can’t stand the guy.

Laughing Buddha,
Pointing what you find odd is not equivalent to: “I am better than you.” I can only express regret if you felt that way.

I thought there was a little more to this piece than some Indian phrases that I find peculiar.

U just hit the nail in the head with the MOUNT EVEREST thing!!!
Will b waiting 4 some more Kurakaniz from u.

Loved these lines:
"When a stupid person says a stupid thing, I rather enjoy it. My principle is simple: do not argue with ignorant people because they have no fear of losing to reasons."

Hilariously hilarious...
Nice sarcasm and good sense of humor.
You are not mocking ignorance or the innocence though; right?

HAHA

Not just Indians Sum Off, Nepalis use those phrases too. what is your good name, etc etc...

What bothers me the most is that my own family members use it and I usually don't have the heart to tell them that it is wrong. I fear I'll be the target of "Kyaa guff dincha yaar"

Amazing piece!!!!

You rock!

Sum_Off, this is one of your best.

I have to tell you this. I was on vacation but managed to peak in Sajha for a few minutes. I couldn't wait to read your story, of course. After I finished reading it, I read it again for my husband, my son and all my family. They had a hearty laugh and we all agreed that your story was one of the highlight of our trip because when we were reading and laughing, my 18 month son was laughing too, at the right places..as if he understood the story. It was priceless..Thank you so much for making our day.

It is very interesting. 'true' or 'gaf gaaf ' .
About left and right, one guy shared a true story last week
He was on the way of "test drive" after passing IP (instruction permit) with the officer of dept of transportation at his passanger seat. After a half a mile drive, the officer asked him "take a left". He was heading towards two way lane road with separator between lanes from a road without any barricades between lanes.
Then he followed the direction and took a left after stopping at the intersection. But the 'left' was actual left of the road, left from the separator. What would happen if there was a vehicle in the ' actual right (his left)'. He was 'lucky' to omit the accident.
Then I asked him the reason and he said he was right follower and it was right to take left.
He passed the test, but in second time.

Liked your spirit sum_off. Since Sajha is Sajha (everyone's), the way you narrated your observations may hold more stout rationality, however, it may not meet the taste of a reader who looks for more than just a direct explanation of the situation. A sitcom is more illustrious when writers don't have to explain every bit explicitly.

That said, one cannot be everyone's feeder and I can only applaud your commentary for it may have satiated (which looks to be the case here) hundreds of other readers' taste. Looking forward to reading more in the future. All the best. :-)

"I can only hope the Indian government is doing something about graduating these ‘passed out’ students. They deserve to graduate."

They better pass out than to say to us like this -

“So many problems in your country. Unfortunate. You should just become a part of India.”
