I have a friend of mine who has her husband in USA. She is planning to come to USA as a dependent(F1). She has done 3 years of IN(intermediate of Nursing) and 3 years of work experience in Kanti Bal Hospital. After that she is about to complete her 2 years of BN degree from Teaching Hospital.
Now the question is,"What should she do to start working in USA?", "Is she considered equivalent to BSC Nursing ?"

just tell me is her husband is in student visa (f1)?if he is in f1 , to bring his wife in his dependent (f2) he must show the strong financial stability...if he can't show that then it will be very hard to bring his wife as his dependent......and another thing since how long has they been married ?if he is recently married and if he is in student status and cannot show strong financial stability to the ambassy then my suggestion is let your friend to try in student visa and don't let the ambassy know that she is married and her husband is in US...if they know then there may be the problem ...........just think
to start working in USA your friend should pass the licensing exam after validating her certificate by board of nursing of the state she wanted to work and if she wants to work other than the state she has the license from then she has to endorse the license that state.....after getting the license she has to search the hospital which will sponser her for her work permit ,I-140 & I-485...& after you get your work permit you can work in the hospital which sponser you...as an RN bcoz 2 year BN is not considerd as BSN here .....in order to get the degree equivalent to BSN of USA your friend need to complete total 16 years of study and with BN it is total 15 years .......so 2 years BN holder should study equal to what the 3 years IN holder will study to get there BSN degree from USA......these are all the information which i know ...if u have further questions ..please email me

First point is that you must pass RN exam i.e., NCLEX if u are already in the USA to work as registered nurse in USA. Whether u have done 3 years Nursing, or BN or MSN from Nepal. YOU must pass RN. YOu can not utilize your foreign BN degree to study further Master degree in nursing. After you pass RN you must pass BSN degree from USA to go further for master degree. I know that is not good but that's the way.

IF you are already in Nepal. You have to go to INDIA to take the CGFNS before you come to USA to take NCLEX. Most state in USA wants you to take CGFNS before you come here and take NCLEX. But i would suggest you to come to state like colorado, michigan, texas, california where they do not require you to take CGFNS.

Come to USA in dependent visa and prepare for the NCLEX exam either from california board or coloarado board or texas. The texas board required you to have 2 years of work experience. Ask you husband or whoever in USA to contact one of those nursing state board and ask the form to fill up for you if u are coming USA. Once he gets the form filled out for you, you need to send the attested marksheet and certificate in a sealed envelope from your school and nursing college to the Pennsylvania board to evaluate your degree courses. Beside the pennsylvania board wants to see your nursling license directly sent from Nursing council in Nepal. Go to council and have them sent your information to the Pennsylvania where the CGFNS board is located at. ONce the Pensylvania board approves you, tehy will give you the permission to take NCLEX at one of their location in USA. DO not forget to take IELTS Which is very important for your visa screening to get your green card.

Hope it helps a little
