Hey Everyone,
I am a student with a F1 visa. I am still in status and going to school. The only problem is my visa expired like a year ago because, I was given a visa valid for a year only. Now i don't know what to do. I don't want to go back and renew it because my grades aren't that good :). I have no clue how to do it from here (US). If anyone has been through this situation or has any knowledge about this issue please post something. I will really appreciate that. Thanx

You cannot renew your F-1 visa inside the United States. If you do not want to go back to Nepal, you don't really need to renew your visa, as long as you're in status. Are you planning on leaving the US and re-entering? That is the only case in which you need a visa, because as long as you are student and you're in status and you don't leave the country you're fine!

Thanx for your response, I appreciate that. actually I am planning to go home this winter but with a situation like this, I don't want to take a risk. I do know that I don't need a visa to stay here a long as I am in F1 status but want to go home real bad. Hope you or someone can help. Will be looking forward.

Going to Canada or Mexico to renew a visa is no more a legitimate option. If they reject your visa over there, you will have to go back to Nepal to apply for one. Chances of getting visa in Nepal once you are rejected overseas are very slim, if not impossible. Finish your school and get H1 unless you’ve have an American GF willing to do you a favor.
