New Yorker has an article on Pakistan that features the noted Pakistani human rights lawyer Asma Jahangir. I was struck by this passing comment she makes about Nepal in the article.

“I have no illusions about our elected politicians. Pakistani democracy is anything but perfect. In fact I can’t think of any other country in the world where the benefits of democracy are less immediately clear—even Nepal.”
