Nepalese charged with wrongfully holding student
KUALA LUMPUR: Four Nepalese were charged at a Sessions Court here yesterday with wrongfully confining one of their compatriots in January.
Security guards Jug Bahadur, 27, and Thirta Raj @ Bharat Gurung, 29, and unemployed Tul Bahadur, 28, and Nir Bahadur Khadka, 31, were accused of wrongfully confining Shyam Aryal, a 24-year-old student from Nepal, together with two others still at large.
They allegedly committed the offence at about 3.50pm on Jan 25 in a flat at the Taman Miharja Flats, Jalan Cheras.
According to the charge, the four men had allegedly intended to demand a 1.5mil Nepalese rupee (RM81,506) ransom from the family of Shyam, an accounting student at a private college here, who was reportedly held for nine days after following a new acquaintance home.
All four claimed trial.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Abazafree Mohd Abbas objected to the bail saying all four men did not have any valid documents and may abscond. Judge Zamri Ibrahim denied bail and fixed July 30 for a mention.
