GP-ji, I think it is ok to publish pictures from the functions without taking any specific permission from those who are in the photo. I personally do not see anything wrong or embarrassing about the picture you posted above. It's just two people having a meal.

Of course, if the picture is extremely embarassing, like it accidentally shows someone's undergarments or privates, then it is incumbent upon the poster and the site owner to be legally obliged and have the common courtesy to to not publish it.

ya i totally agree they should ask or atleast that person whose pic has been posted and they dont like it then it should be taken off or they should be able to take it off
i mean i would be so pissed if someone went around posting not so nice pics of me.

If one goes to a function or a gathering photographers and vedio cameramen are a familiar scene. If one is conscious of himself/or herself and do not want to be photographed they should avoid such places, rather than expect to be asked before being photgraphed. that is so absurd!!! I think the celebrities of the US can afford to make objections as their photos can make a good story if taken in odd circumstances and can fetch a lot of money, but otherwise my advise is smile before a camera and always dress up decently while making a public appearance to avoid future embarressment.
