Hi all,

I am an F1 student here and my graduation is not till 2009. I have been here for 3 years. I really miss my parents. I want to bring them here. Also, my grandparents passed away recently so i want my mom and dad to come here.
if you have any inputs on what i have to do, please let me know :)
Thank you

Did you want to bring them here temporarily for a few weeks/months maybe, or for good?

I dont think there is anyway that you could bring them over related to your F1. I might be wrong but the only way to go would be for them to apply for a tourist visa or if you can get a letter from a doc. about a health condition of yours due to which they have to be here... I dont think there is a way that they would get a visa just because you wanted them to visit you. They woiuld have to go through the normal tourist visa process. (As far as I know.)

Mamata,
I am also in F1 status and I call my mother here. I send the letter from International Advisor and personal letter from my side. It works fine for me. Its not bad to try once. If u need more info, email me.
Study well and feel well. Goodluck!

Hello mamta,

if you want to bring your parents for about two months, you can just have them sent a letter from international office and a letter from you stating that your reasons for them to come here for a brief visit, just like sijupants has suggested. there are some letter formats, which you can use.

Also, there's a noble person by the name of Santosh Giri who gives his advise and suggestions every once in a while. He's an immigration attorney and has helped many people by advising them or providing them with a format of immigration letter here at the sajha. you can create a thread in his name for his quick response or e-mail him. I'm sure he will help you out in his free time. hope this helps!

Good Luck!
