Dhoti Companies lure or attract New Graduates or Experienced IT professionals with 50K or 60K etc stuffs. It may look so much to you , but they charge over 100K and pay you 50K or even 70K, well of course depending upon jobs. What they don't tell you is once they get hold of your H1 papers, and One month's salary in hold, as they pay after one month, they are in stuck.
+++ Be careful. I know to many of you this may not be new, but this may help to those who didn't know.
+++ Do not believe anything they say. Make them send you what they say in detail by e-mail or in paper work.
+++ Dhoti's Contract of 1 year isn't legally valid, so do not be scared of that paper if thats holding you to go to better paying jobs.
+++ Do not worry of money, they HAVE to pay you, or else report at www.dol.gov or tell them you will notify even FBI or even IRS, believe me they will know what it means then.
+++ Talk to friends, if salary is good to work with or percentage basis. Make sure the e-mails exchange between vendors - meaning clients and your dhoti agent is also copied to you that way you will know how much is being paid to you.
+++ It may even be better to pay for class if you are talking such rather than to be binded. But make sure you ask and u get new I-94 , once your H1 is approved.

ONCE AGAIN, DO NOT TRUST ANY OF THESE CHEAP SUCKERS... THEY TALK SWEET...

AT LAST, Friends, let us help more Nepalese get into booming IT jobs, if any of you have had bad experience with any of these companies, lets List them here.... so that all of us can be aware an do not refer to them..... Good Luck...

Seiko is right. Even at Atlanta lot of these Dhotis and even Nepalese are doing same. But the thing is so many have employeed Nepalese now to attract fellow Nepalese. About resumes, I guarantee MANY of Dhoti candidates are getting jobs in same way. Resume doesn't matter with Job, Its just to get the job at first place and few days of your job thats tough, but thats how you learn.

Further the most important thing is, the job Nepalese may ignore in fear of such steps is being taken by dhotis doing same thing. So guess what, I would say gas station or restaurants are part most Nepalese do to reach towards their career but thats not their career. So, do whatever it takes, take advantage of these high paying jobs My Friends.

Guys, please share your experiences like above, with such Consultancies/Recruiters in USA. "Sajh__ aa", thanks for helpful thread!
However, in some instances, I feel that it is good to opt these consultancies when you fail to find a job with your own efforts. Status matters!!
On the other hand, we should be wary about such bitter facts (as discussed above), so that nobody would be trapped later. This is really an important issue, especially for recent graduates. Guys, keep posting...and help others.

What all I can say is take advantage of them and leave when you get what you want.
There are hundreds of Nepali students who are looking for a job and some may never get it because they do not know about these doti companies. I agree they will suck you big time but it is better to get a job and be in Status then going out of status. If you can't find a job on your own, join one of these companies, get some experience and switch your job. If they can use you, you can also kick their ** once you gain some experience by leaving them.
Even though they file your H1 and you are formally their employee, most of them will not pay you until you are placed in a project. This is very frustrating when you don’t get a job for months. Just do not loose your patience and work hard, you will surely get a job. IT market is really HOT these days so take advantage of it.
They will definitely hide many things from you until you join them so ask all sorts of questions. If you had a choice of getting a job in a good company, you would not join dhoti’s company to begin with so it is fair to say we need them as much as they need us. JUST ACT SMARTLY...

Good Luck!

Yup, be smart and use them. thats how I landed my first job and now a PR, working for great company. Take it easy guys, its OK to give them some but make your plans to get more out of it. We need them and they needs us, period..

While I appreciate the concern raised by you guys, it might be a different scenario from now on wards.
#1-Very few companies will be willing to hire internationals from now on as they aren't assured of H1B, in fact there is a greater chance that they won't get H1B. So, why would companies pay for training these people for a year? First year is essentially all about training. This is the single most important issue.
#2- I think you have to choose a worse to the worst. If you think you might not get a job at all, then it might be worth working with these "illegal" b***es.

The issue out here is more about landing into a job than thinking about H1B and the consequences after that. No person is guaranteed a H1B visa anyway. So, despite being a sad option, I am not in favor of denouncing them as somehow you are also benefiting from it.

I thought I would give my valued opinion in this regard. The dhotis are going to screw you either way. Even if you work at a gas station, resturants or any other businessess they offer you are bound to be underpaid. I worked for a dhoti's company to support myself in the survival game. The salary was very meager and the 10%sales commission that I was to recieve got converted into 5%. There is always heaps and piles of work to be done and I really get pissed to see a dhoti's belly swell with luxary. I really feel degraded and I really feel I should chuk my degree's away. It's really fustrating at times though I know that there is a better world out there. There have been a lot of instances where the khali shisi purano kagaz(dhotis) do not pay their employees since they get paid cash and they do not have existing proof of employment.Another important aspect I would like to bring to your attention to all the gas station job holders is that make sure that they carry insurance on their property or business for the mishaps that might occur at you job!!!!!!

You guys never realize the bitter truth. Had it not been for the dhotis, how many nepalese students do you think would be able to pay for their education?
No matter how much you get pissed and moan about it, after all they have given the opportunity to work illegally and without it, you would literally be bankrupt.

So, while it is deplorable, you also need to think about the alternatives. We don't have alternatives. I have seen many of my friends working with dhoties. True, they are underpaid but what options do they have? At least they are surviving. If it were not for the dhoties, they would have been forced to quit studies....

So, take the advantages when you can. Thats the best way to deal with them. I know one guy who built a house of 1 crore in Ktm working in a gas station (for 5-6 years) owned by a dhoti. You got to be smart and cunning to do that. Do that if you can, it is not immoral...That owner is also treating you the same...

I read some user asking if there is any IT Dhoti firm at around Atlanta. Fact is my friend, you do not need it to be at Atlanta, it can be at anywhere in the US and you can through them at any location.
Visit sites like sulekha.com but do not trust or depend completely on it, mareko dhoti le das jana jyiudu nepali lai thagcha bhancha, its not about race or else, i am just quoting whats the old saying, and supporting that with fact of their deceitful trends. So be careful. if you have any questions, post it here, i shall answer for the benefit of many like you. Share the name of consultancy and we can find out how it is. Today one Nepali was trapped into difficulty situation with this dhoti in Texas. The more we educate nepali friends, les victimized they will be...

**********BE AWARE OF DHOTIS TRICK TO TRAP YOU WITH SWEET WORDS*****
Ask everything in e-mail or in writing, from Job Description to what they wil pay, when they will give raise, if there is any contract, if they will hold your salary if you quit, if H-1B filing is waived even if u work with them for less than 1 year, if they wil return your H1 Papers or not ..... everything...clear.... Good Luck..

I had similar experience. My dhoti was threatening me to sue, after I left him for better paying job in a company. He threatened me that he would sue as I left him before contract period. I told him - "ok lets meet in court. I also have your emails, that you suggesting me fake 5 yrs experience.. I also have to show to court how you do your business.." After that - he stopped bothering me.

Next, never trust their words.. They are the biggest cheaters.

Do't think that 60K or 70k is big money.. If you are getting job with 5 yrs of resume, they are getting at least 140k - 170k per years. So make plan in advance.. Deal with DHOTIES carefully..
