I applied for NCLEX_RN abt 2yrs ago.They asked me to get PSY practical hrs.I alrdy sent  it from Nepal but they said they didn't get that yet.So Do you guys know which Psy course i have to take.According to them,it seems like you can only take the course after u got into major.But here you have to pass entrance exam + interview to enter into Nursing program.(this is the rule of my coll currently i am attending).So i don't know what should i do?ANy idea?

I think you should be asking this question to them whoever recommended you to complete PSY practical hours. I dont know the coursework in Nepal... its kind of hard to tell you without knowing the classes you have already taken so far. This is important issue to you.. please find authentic person get the answer... In these types of issues, you should not relying on the answer from just a person...   verify everything before stepping.

Here in Nursing school, we take General Psychology or College psychology, and Human Development...  only two classes. Other than that... we take good amount of load in Psychiatric nursing... and we do clinical hours at a psychiatric hospital.

You mentioned psychiatric practical hours... I am assuming that must be clinical hours in psychiatric hospital...   But, please find the answer from authentic personnel.

 

     Thx coffee333 for u'r suggestion.I did contact them and they r sendin' me the required course.But my concern is,as i am not still done with pre-reqs of prenursing,howcome the university let me take the psy course which is offered after in nursing major.Don't know,a kind of curious...

       yeah,before every nursing school of nepal used to make the required letter of psy clinical hrs easily but now they don't.So if anybdy has gone through the same problem like me then you  r welcome to share........

   Sorry to make u lost in my writing.Actually i am here in the US and studyin' undergrad. in Nsg.Still i have some more pre-reqs to finish and main thing,i haven't taken PSY(one of the pre-req which is PSY 240 our college offers) yet.So,i am wondering,if there is another PSY course( which is required after major) the board of Nsg is asking for.

  By the way,would u mind tellin' if  r u graduated here or in nepal?Well..I jus' did PCL Nursing back home.Yeah some of my frens didn't have trouble coz they had bachelor degree Nsg from Nepal.As i know,even for PCL level there was no difficulty gettin' approval from board of Nsg before.

 Well...i'm afraid if i lose my application fees with other expenses.....it matters,doesn't it?

 

i am confused again... you are yet to get into a nursing program right? I mean you are still taking pre-requisites needed before you start nursing major. You are still a pre-nursing student and PSY 240 is one of the pre-requisite right? Those numbers (240 or 140) differs according to the universities.. please write the name than those code numbers.. i dont know if the PSY you are talking .. is general psychology or human development or abnormal human psychology. Anyway.. if you are yet to graduate from nursing school.. then dont worry.. talk to your advisor .. he/she will be able to guide you.

I am glad you are in usa.... you will have more opportunities in future with US nursing degree compared to your friends who graduated from Nepal when it comes to doing masters or ph.d. in nursing.

PCL is equivalent to 12th grade right? a good university will hardly do credit transfer for those classes..  

I am also confused to know that you applied for NCLEX 2 years ago? I thought you need to have either associate degree or bachelor's degree in nursing to apply for NCLEX. If they let you write NCLEX 2 years ago then why are you going to college?
Are you allowed to apply for NCLEX with your PCL from nepal?? If yes then i did not know that.

   Well.........international nurseses who have either bachelor or PCL level can apply for NCLEX-RN here in the USA.The state they allowed are CA ,NY ,NM and others(not all states).A lot of frens of mine who had PCL nursing back home, took NCLEX RN and now workin' at hosital.But PCL nursing is equivalent to associate degree here in the USA.All information i am talkin' about is related to PCL Nursin' coz i don't think people who have bachelor in NSg from Nepal, have problem to get approval from US board of Nsg .Anyway,due to have equivalent to associate Nsg from nepal,i applied for NCLEX RN abt 1 and half yrs ago.As i have heard,CA board of Nsg ask for more PSY clinical hrs whereas NY board of Nsg shows lack of Pediatric Nsg practical hrs in Nsg curriculum of Nepal.This requiremnet is only for Nurses who have PCL nursing back home.So,in my case,the CA board of  Nsg showed lack of enough PSY clinical Hrs and told me to take one pSY course here in the United States.But,i still don't know the course code of the PSy the board is talkin' abt becoz they sent  me letter  in wrong address.And some day earlier when i called them,again they said they r sendin' me the course code that i have to take here.

   Now,i thought u r nurse from Nepal that's why i wrote those things but not in detail coz most of the nepali nurse know the process and fed up with makin' all the paperwork the board is askin' for.

   yeh,now i am doin' undergrad in Nursing coz i realized that i alrdy have equivalent to associate degree from Nepal.And i still have muchmore pre-reqs left and the main thing is i am doin' psy 240(one that my coll offers) next semester.About transferrin' my credits,the advisor said that if i pass NCLEX RN from here then there is a coll who let me get into the  bridge programme(don't know it's a sort of RN associate to bachelor RN) which only requires certain yrs(maybe 1-2yrs i am not sure) for graduatn.In that case,even i shouldn't have done all the pre-reqs of prenursing.That is the main reason i am applyin' for NCLEX RN.

Obsessed! i do not know much about courses in nepali nursing schools. I graduated from here...so i will not be able to answer you any of the questions r/t coursework you did in nepal.

I already mentioned in my previous post about PSY classes. You take those only in pre-nursing school.. and complete it before you get admission into nursing school. There are only two PSY classes you have to take as pre-nursing... so its not that bad. You do not take any PSY classes once you start nursing major. But, you do a huge chunk of course work on psychiatric nursing. The reason i am talking about nursing school is that i graduated from a nursing school.

Also be cautious about retrogression for Schedule A visa which will be your pathway to get green card. Always keep eyes on visa availability for nurses too when it comes to applying for the job.

                       thx for u'r precious time for atleast tryin' to analysize my points of view.U know wat...most of an international nurses don't pass NCLEX due to lack of havin' critical thinking skill which only provides by US eduation.

   Well..i am not really interested to work as havin' nepali degree but i'll  rather try to be graduate as soon as possible.Passin' NCLEX would help me to transfer some credits from Nepal...that's all
