Nnepal,

I’m also keen for this movement in Burma though it is for different reason. For the moment, I am speculating what would be the political implications in south Asia if Aung San Suu Kyi comes to the power. Will it be a major drawback for the two Asian giants??

I feel it should be the biggest shortcoming for India, if not for China, as it can jeopardize Indian’s plan to disintegrate some other tiny south Asian country like Nepal and eventually merge the divided parts into the Indian Territory staging another round of ‘people’s voice’.

[Did Mao push Cantonese Mukti Morcha to liberate it from Mandarin, which was mighty and very dominating then? Except to Nepal’s Maobadi ‘led’ by acute manipulator Dr. Bhattarai (PKD gang would have been finished long back if they were not sheltered in India and mind you pkd was/is a mask only), lingo/caste based political division of a country never happened in communist history...Madhesis Mukti Morcha, Tharuwan, Kirat, Mankaakhal all came from Delhi]

My hypothesis is principally based on some of incidences instigated by Hindu fanatics in northeast India when Christian dominated East Timor came into existence again as an independent territory in 1999. East Timor’s exit from Indonesia was based on the referendum. Islamic Indonesia could do little as more than 90% native Timorians were Roman Catholic, who had backing of all the western powers including of Vatican and UN. Wary of the Western countries’ backup for the uprising in Timor and UN’s referendum formula, RAW had already impeded India’s relation with Burmese democratic forces in the late 1990s. Before that, India tried to change its policy towards Burma by extending ‘moral’ support to the Burmese democratic forces. Jawaharlal Nehru award to Aung San Suu Kyi in 1993 was part of their new game.

RAW stopped India’s support for democratic movement in Burma simply because such a setup in Rangoon could boost a moral support for the separatists in northeast India, which was (is) not only different in terms of race and religion with the mainland Indians but was also seeking an independent ethnic identity like other southeast Asian countries. Besides, RAW knew the Burmese capital could be a heaven for all those interested to play a good game against India. India always wants democracy in Pakistan but not in Burma. why????????????

UN peacekeepers’ entry in Nepal was desired by the shortsighted Indians as they thought a regional political ‘movements’ staged under the banners of Madheshi Mukti Morcha, Kirat, Tharu etc would eventually end up in UN’s court following a series of failed dialogue, and UN would have no other choice but to ask Nepal for a referendum. We all can guess the number of new East Timors if such a situation prevails. India is shortsighted in the sense Burmese current regime’s strength is Chinese military, which might be little less interested to extend its support to the junta as it sees no threat to its Yunnan and Tibet provinces at this moment. Yunnan and Tibet were problems for China in the past but not anymore. China’s growth has reached to these areas also and people are happier than ever. So, if China pulls itself out from Burma, there would be no stopping for the western power in Rangoon…East Timor can be repeated in India too, and Kashmir is still in India....India can still face the music.

So, a democratic Burma would be more meaningful for us ...would be absolute jackpot...that would restrain India to ploy social division in the Nepal....no maobadi no East Timor- the Indian still calculate referendum based divisions are possible in Nepal even though it has some bigger Timors to deal with.....

IN ESSENCE It can Serve OUR Interest

(Indians-it does not mean common ordinary people of India, but those elements within India which have turned the peaceful south Asian countries like Sri Lanka and Nepal into killing zones)

My personal views...its very hypothetical and is based on the events and political readings...I can be completely wrong also, and sorry for the typos etc....

Happy Dashain to all
