तीर्थ न्यौपाने स्याङ्जा, कार्तिक १ - मायाटारीका कृषक जगतबहादुर केसी खेतबारीको काम सकेर गाउँदेखि तल र्झछन् र एकछिन् 'सामुदायिक सूचना केन्द्र' को कम्प्युटरमा बस्छन् । 'किसान भए पनि जमानाअनुसार नचली कहाँ सकिन्छ र ?' उनी भन्छन्- 'दिनको एकपटक इन्टरनेट नहेरी चित्त बुझ्दैन ।' खेतबारीको काम सकेर एकछिन् कम्प्युटरमा बस्ने उनीमात्र होइनन् । गाउँमा अरू पनि प्रशस्त छन् । 'यहाँ आएपछि गाउँ र जिल्लाको सबै खबर थाहा हुन्छ,' अर्का कृषक गंगाबहादुर गुरुङ भन्छन्- 'अझ कम्प्युटरमा संसारभरकै कुरो हुने रै'छ ।' उनी एक घन्टा हिँडेर पेल्काचौरदेखि कम्प्युटर सिक्न र इन्टरनेट चलाउन मायाटारी धाउने गरेका छन् । नेपाल ग्रामीण सूचना तथा प्रविधि समाजले गाउँमै कम्प्युटर चिन्ने वातावरण बनाएपछि किसानहरू यसप्रति भmयामिने मौका पाएका हुन् । समाजले गत वर्ष देउसी र भैलो खेलेेर गाउँमा दुई थान कम्प्युटर ल्याएको छ । त्यसमा इन्टरनेटसमेत जोडिएको छ । सूर्योदय क्लबसँग मिलेर केही वर्षभित्र जिल्लाभर सूचना केन्द्रको विस्तार गर्ने योजना भएको समाजका अध्यक्ष सुदीप अर्याल बताउँछन् । एउटा कृषकको बाख्रा बेच्नु पर्दा होस् वा कसैलाई खेतला चाहिँदा त्यसबारे गाउँमा सोद्धै र खोज्दै हिँड्न पर्दैन । त्यसको विवरण सूचना केन्द्रमा टाँसिएको हुन्छ । 'भविष्यमा यही कुरालाई नेटमा राख्ने हाम्रो योजना छ,' अर्याल भन्छन्- 'त्यसका लागि पहल गरिराखेका छौं ।' किसानलाई सञ्चार र सूचना प्रविधिप्रति आकषिर्त पार्न समाजले मायाटारीको अलवा बगालथोक, करेन्डाँडा, राङखोला, बयरघारी र बायाँटारी, कास्की जिल्लाको कास्कीकोट, धिताल र दाङमा गरी १० स्थानमा सामुदायिक सूचना केन्द्र स्थापना गरेको छ । ती सूचना केन्द्रमा राष्ट्रियस्तर केही दैनिक पत्रपत्रिकाको व्यवस्था पनि मिलाइएको छ । किसानले व्यवस्थित सूचना पाटीको प्रयोग र पत्रपत्रिका निःशुल्क रूपमा पढ्न पाउँछन् । कम्प्युटरमा बसेबापत भने प्रतिघन्टा दस रुपैयाँको दरले तिर्नुपर्छ । सूचना केन्द्रको माग बढ्दै गएको क्लबका अध्यक्ष अनन्तकुमार श्रेष्ठ बताउँछन् । 'हाम्रो गाउँमा पनि खोल्न पर्यो भनेर धाउने धेरै छन्' उनी भन्छन् । नगरपालिकाका केही वडाका साथै रत्नपुर, किचनास र ओरस्टेलगायतका १० गाविसमा यस वर्ष स्थापना गर्ने योजना रहेको श्रेष्ठले जानकारी गराए । ग्रामीण भेगमा खोलिएका सूचना केन्द्र विदेशीहरूका लागि पनि चाख र चासोको विषय बनेको छ । अस्ट्रेलियाका क्यामरुन ब्रोक्स सूचना केन्द्रमा एक महिना सेवा गरेर फर्केका छन् । सरकारी स्तरका महँग्ाा योजनाभन्दा स्थानीय स्ा्रोत-साधन परिचालन गरेर खोलिएका केन्द्र दीर्घकालीन हुने अर्याल बताउँछन् ।

I think there are many nepalese who are willing to help Nepal and Nepalese no matter they are inside the country or outside like me.But the only thing that strikes in our mind is "Will the money donated by us be solely utilised for that purpose?"No one can be sure of that.Past incidences and the habit of how Nepalese do these kinds of works really cripes a sense of hesitation.Inspite of those will,there are many Nepalese who have desire but don't want to donate the money to the people collecting them................. No one wants the money to be abused coz they have spent their time,skill,power in earning it.

Elusivecat, You have a valid point and it is unfortunate. Let me try to curb some of your doubts. Help Nepal has been functioning on donations. All those working for it are volunteers. We do not make livings out of it. We do not take out over head cost from the donations (except groundspring.org charges 3% from the donated amount). We have seperate fund raisers or events for overhead if/when needed. The cost of overhead for running Nepal Office were borne by our Russian team. Help Nepal is proud of the fact that it has collected over 75000$ (mostly from Nepalese) for the overhead revolving fund so that we can employ few more qualified personnel and all the donations go to the specified projects. Moreover, we do not simply give away to people. We involve the local people so that they have sense of ownership. Look at lighted up Humla - a small amount was from donations of people like you. Look at the running clinic in Mugu - it totally depends on donations of people like you. There are many more examples like repairing and building schools through donations from Nepalese. I do invite you to join hands and share ideas and implement to mitigate such doubts. We need more people getting involved. Again, If you don't who will ?

Poon Hill,
Not really but your contribution has certainly helped for the new total of $ 1554.33.
We are still lagging behind of the projected sum.
Contributions are coming from different sources, Nepal loving/caring individuals and as far as New Zealand.
Thank You again.
Pretty confident of providing computers to all the schools of Nepal. Your help is ESSENTIAL though.
Do your part (it does not have to be through Help Nepal)
