Last month when I was in Nepal for Janai Purnima festival, I also visited Dakshinkali Temple. During my visit there I observed an incident. Amongst all the Nepali devotees praying homage to Kali Maa, I saw a European lady standing around observing the prayers etc. She was just taking pics. Then all of a sudden, one of the temple helpers told the lady to leave the premises saying that "foreigners are not allowed in the temple." I was surprised to hear that because I did not see any signage say that. So, of course the lady also told the man that she did not see any signs. In the end that man insisted that the lady leave. In my opinion, that was very wrong thing to do. In the first place if foreigners are not allowed than there should be a signboard. And once someone has come into a holy place, it is very wrong to send them out...whatever the reason may be. God belongs to everyone and God does not follow any particular religion. Its man who has different religions based on different beliefs. Furthermore, Hindus believe that a guest is equivalent to God and so must be treated with respect. Hindus also practice tolerance. So, it was very disappointing to see temple helpers behaving in such manner. Even the term "foreigner" is wrong because they are being judged by their looks and not by their documents. They do no check your passport to see if you are a foreigner or not. If that be the case, I am also a foreigner. But just because I'm a Hindu and can pass off as a Nepali, I'm free to move from temple to temple or even go trekking all the way up to Gosainkund without permit. Such signs are detrimental to a country that thrives on tourism.

You guys seems to be pretty immature about those temples. "No Entrance for Foreigner" is better than "Only Hindus allowed" I've seen a bunch of temples at Patan, Bhaktapur, and of course Pashupatinath is the center for not allowing Non Hindu. Some has the clear sign "Only Hindus allowed". It's discrimination and things need to change.Bullshit old beliefs still prevails in Nepal.

The best thing is to change some of these unwanted beliefs. Common, lets welcome everyone who wants to come to temples, why we have to stop people. The first thing Hindu religion talks abuot is peace, love, harmony, brotherhood, and so on things. If so then why we have to stop some people who wants to be there. I'm born and raised hindu, but I dont follow these kind of stupid beliefs. If I could, I would throw out all these kind of signs ( I call 'em racist signs) from temples and let everyone visit. This is my personal  opinion, no offense to anyone.Although some of might be hardliner, time will change 'em all soon. But please, think once with cool mind, and analygize it.

Peace
